I don't know how i am to fix this but i might need to consult a hair specialist to see what can be done to make the hair at the back of my head look like the front does. Until then i'm gonna wear a hat everytime i set foot into the sun. I hope the damage is not permanent.
I don't wear a hat much and the hot summer Australian sun is very harsh to the hair. I always knew that there was something more to my damage than just simple split ends and i'm glad i have finally figured out why it is happening cause it was eating me for manths months. I even bought sharper scissors and cut some split ends but the hair still looked damaged so that is proof that it wasen't from split ends alone.
Thanks alot guys, especially Oleg for pointing this out to me.
I promise i won't post anymore of my pessimistic posts about my damaged hair.
Wow look at the picture and just shows what great natural curly body your hair has and will look spectacular when longer. Always great to see great looking longhair. Keep it growing.

I bet that must be a major relief. :)
If it helps, I seriously had to look hard to see the 'terrible' damage that you claim to have at the back.
Keep in mind, that this occured even after being aware of your feelings on this matter for a while, and then looking at a picture designed to show me this 'terible' problem.
Translation? : It's not that bad!
Really.
I see where you are coming from, what with the slight discolouration and all at the back, but I guarantee you that 9/10 people wouldn't notice a problem anything as big as you've made it out to be.
Also keep in mind, that with men, the hair at the back of the head/crown area, does tend to be thinner, and more prone to damage than the rest of the scalp. Most people will also always see you from the front, and would have to be really close up to you in the back to even have any chance of thinking that your hair was in terrible condition, assuming that was their final conclusion (doubtful).
If the juxtaposition of dark and light hair worries you than maybe you should rather get one of those dyejobs from Coles, than a trip to the salon.
Also, if you really had a problem in the back, it would show up more in the hair at the bottom, by your neck, shoulder etc. rather than at the crown or top of the back of your head.
If your hair at the bottom starts to get damaged, and noticeably damged, then I would think about maybe going to a stylist.
Otherwise, your hair is looking really good, and is progressing nicely.
It takes years to get the hair that you posted as your inspiration picture months back, there will be setbacks along the way, but the key is consistency.
So keep g(r)owing. Your hair really is not that damaged, and is quite the opposite instead.
Really.
Thanks Dean.
I guess you are right. I am blowing up the problem to massive proportions when it isn't that bad. But who can blame me, when you cherish your hair so much and it is attached to your own scalp you can get obsessive and even paranoid at times. To the casual eye, infact to most people, they wouldn't even notice a thing. It is just me noticing really, and my own self esteem and attitude about my hair. I might dye it at the back, but the discoloration isn't too bad. I guess i just gotta avoid the harsh sun and wear a good hat more often. Now that i know what is causing my "terrible" hair i feel better. Trying to cut splits with a fruitless result is not very inspiring at the least.
BTW have you cut your split ends yet. Thanks Dean, i feel better already. I needed a verdict and opinion by other people.
I wouldn't dye it if I were you! Maybe the hair is just naturally lighter in that area. You could try getting half an inch trimmed off the back.
NP, happy i was help ;)
i just found some products on the net that are specifically for UV and sun damaged hair. They repair and fix the damage caused by the sun basically. They come in shampoos and conditioners. I might buy one , well worth it if it brings my hair back to life.
I promise i won't post anymore of my pessimistic posts about my damaged hair.
