Hey guys, I really need advice heh I had been growing my hair, its at 5 months now. Anyways i got an undercut... loved it, didnt make that much of a distance because my hair covered all of the undercut so it wasnt until i lifted my hair that people seen I had an undercut... I was so happy withmy hair.. then i got dread extensions... took them out after a week! my hair is still as long as it was, the front and sides are fine but the back of my hair (god knows where it went or how it came out) is very thin and stringy like gollum and its only the back =( its very depressing.... what can I do? I wish I had pictures but I dont =( just know that all around my hair is much thicker (not longer) than the back where you can see thru to the undercut as its thin and like gollum O.o will it be better in time? no idea what to do... dont want to cut my hair but im tired of wearing caps now =( stoopid mistake heh paying the price right now
5 months can seem like a long time to go without a haircut, when you are new at growing your hair out.
Yet in the grand scheme of things, of hair-growing, of life itself, 5 months is really quite a small amount of time.
My advice would be to shave your head and start again.
Also, to stay away from hair and dread extensions.
If it is your goal to have dreads, then you should wait at least a year before getting it done.
Have patience. Start over.
Dean is right. You did slip up unfortunately. The damage sounds pretty permanent. What is "Gollum"? LOTR ?the little troll dude , hahaha. He has awesome hair man.
When you are in the akward stage you should just let your hair grow out and don't do anything silly like undercuts or dreads. It is just a setback basically.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww Man
Agrees with Dean Buzzcut it to the length that matches your back unless you want to continue to wear a base ball cap the Choice is yours !

I say leave it for a week or two and see if it improves after washing. A buzz cut may be overkill here. An inch off the back migh be sufficient. Don't rush into anything.
Hi Adam,
In my opinion, plain ol' patience is going to heal it. I would NOT buzz it off now, five months (probably 5-6 cm) isn't that much. The "thinning" may even be an optical deception - be patient, it'll go from Gollum to Legolas ;-) I suspect that the undercut won't play a role another 3-5 months down the road. If you insist on having cut off some, I'd cut only in the back, and I wouldn't worry whether or not the resulting "hair cut line" in the back looked a bit "fem".
If you are worried about genuine hair loss, you can try vitamins; that may slow down (or perhaps stop) MPB. I've found the following twice-weekly regimen helpful: one "B-100" tablet that includes lots of B-1/B-6/niacin, 5-10 mg biotin, 200-400 micrograms of iodide, and, perhaps, 5 mg folic acid. If you're vegetarian, add some iron & minerals; if not, treat yourself to some good meat on a regular base. - I'd stop the pills if they don't show any effect within about 6 months.
Fortunately, the mistake you described does not have eternal consequences.
I'd say, keep growing - it's probably not half as bad as you think.
Best wishes
Hans-Uwe
Hey man! Don't start all over! Just "tweak" your style a little for the time being... Go with a "punk/rock" look. This way, you will not lose the growth you already have. Leave the front long and just have the back cleaned up a little bit. I think this look is super hot too! Good luck!
