ive noticed that when i usually just fingercomb my hair a few hairstrands would fall, and of course combing would make more hair fall out... but when i shower and i only run my hands through my wet hair as gently as i can to rince, many peices of hair fall out. This is really starting to freak me out because i don't know if this is normal or not. I shampoo only 2 times a week with a natural shampoo that contains no chemicals, i wash my hair 4 times a week with conditioner(i just started using it today), and after shower i usually put some leave in conditioner to make my hair smooth. I would appreciate any help or facts about this "hair loss" because i am really scared for my hair, i don't know how it is possible to grow nice long hair if everytime i have to fingercomb, comb, or rince my hair i have to lose hair.
btw my hair has reached about 4 1/2 inches now as i checked today.
I wouldnt worry to much it's normal for strands of hair to fall out when you wash or brush your hair. i remember reading a post on here saying we lose 200 strands of hair a day.
I just read something that might be interesting:
Dr. Michael has found that it is important for growing the longest, healthiest hair possible is to have hair that's all one length - without bangs or fringes. He says that the body will try to equalize uneven hair by excessively shedding hair.
He says that "The longer the hair, the stronger the root," and this results in healthier hair.

One of his secrets was the use of acid conditioners and acid pre-treatment products use before swimming in chlorinated pools or salt water or exposing the hair to sunlight. This kept the hair proteins very tightly bound together. He used hair dryers set only about 10 degrees F. higher than body temperature. Common blow dryers reach temperatures of up to 260 degrees. Water boils at 212 degrees. This high heat can damage hair follicles. Large rollers of soft mesh or plastic were used for drying the hair. Velcro rollers were not used because they can tear the hair. Special care was taken to protect the ends of the hair when rolling or setting.
Is this true? if so then i guess it's natural for me to lose many strands of hair since my hair is not too long yet.
oops i messed up on the hair chart, here it is again:

I don't know who Dr. Michael is and I seriously doubt he is a real doctor because everything you've posted is complete BS.
Your hair can't tell how long it is and doesn't care if some is longer than others. You hair doesn't fall out faster when it's shorter either.
People's hair wouldn't reach terminal length and various points if less hair fell out when it got longer.
Nothing you've posted has a single shred of truth in it, except that it's better to use a cold hair drier than a hot one. Of course it's better still to use NO hair drier.
Don't worry Oleg. We loose between 70-100 hair strands a day, considering we have around 100,000 strands on our scalp the chances of going bald are rather slim. It is perfectly normal and healthy to shred hair, just learn to accept this fact. I used to worry about shedding aswell, it just means you value your hair highly and you want to look after it. BTW, you seem to be doing everything right so far in terms of conditioning, detangling, shampooing etc. keep it up.
Only "Finger-Comb" when your hair is dry. This should see a great improvement in hair loss! And..........don't rush through it. Be gentle.
Your hair is in the most danger when wet.
hi,
dont touch (comb, etc) your hair when its wet - it's very sensitive in that condition ...
to the combing thing, my strategy is:
first "finger comb" it (go gently with the fingers through your hair and carefully remove detected tangles and knots) ...
then use a wide toothed comb and get a few times trough your hair ...
at last i use a "normal" comb ...
with that strategy i have very low hair loss (about 20 hairs when combing and nearly no loss during showering) ..
greez,
ALH
After shampooing, rinse and add LOTS of conditioner BEFORE you run
your fingers through your hair.
This prevents tangles and knots.
I usually shampoo twice a week but when I do it only once I find
a clump of hair on the shower drain.
You are probably shedding the same amount of hair you did when your
hair was shorter...but the length makes it look like you are losing more hair.
Good Luck!
Thanks for the help and support guys, i think i may have been overly exaggerating only a small problem :p.
