hi, ive been reading about people cutting their own hair, and a lot of people swear by it.
i dont want my hair shorter, i just want rid of the curly part that grows underneath, the bottom strands of my hair just above my neck, if you know what i mean.
my hair is about maybe 6 inches long, from the top (more or less straight hair), but the short curly parts that grow underneath sit on my shoulders, and bunch it all up so it doesnt look like it 'hangs'. these parts are only about 3 inches, and if they were cut, would leave my hair hanging, and look even. kinda hard to describe really...
but i want to cut it. when i seperate my hair, i grab all of the 'long' hair and hold it into a ponytail, all the short curly hair that grows just above my neck is left, and thats what needs cutting.
any advice on cutting this? ponytail the long strands then cut through the curly bits with sharp cutting scissors? then when i let my hair down, it will hang and actually look the length it is, instead of one messy mass!
thanks, drog
hiya,
u should not cut that hair, which is curly at the ends ... i got the same type of hair and i also had this curls when my hair was about 6" long (i measure the real length of the hair strands) ...
these curls will disappear/get less noticable when it grows longer due to gravity ...
i also thought that if i might cut these end, it will help but then i was told here that they will disappear when my hair becomes longer ...
and i also think if u cut these curls/flips at the end of your hair, the "new end" of the hair will also begin to flip ... so the only "sense" of cutting these curls is losing length and needing more time to get longer hair ...
my op: give it time and dont cut it - u will see - the curls will get less noticable with time and length ..
greez,
ALH
thanks, but i dont know whether we are talking about the same thing. the long strands that i like arent curly at the ends, its just the 'layer' or sections of hair that grows underneath these strands, the hair closer to my shoulders that curl.
???
Hi DRog,
I still wouldn't cut it, the shorter curlier parts probably will catch up over time and get less curly - no matter where they are. Otherwise, you may be creating something like an undercut, and quite a few people who grow their hair out, regret getting "undercuts" and similar partial cuts. I'd be patient, things will even out.
Have fun on the way,
Hans-Uwe
I think he is talking about neck hair. Neck hair don't grow long and don't look good if you have ponytail. So, feel free to cut it if you want - be careful not to cut more though! Maybe you should ask someone else to do that.
