Yo guys, I know everyone will probably hate this but I have been thinking about getting dreadlocks, not right now but maybe in 5 or 6 months. I have shoulder length straight blonde hair, but I like the look of when someone with my hair has dreads and keeps them in a half tail, Ive seen a few people with this and I think it looks awesome. Also Ive seen a few longhaired blonde guys with like 3-4 random dreads in their hair, I think that looks pretty cool too.
I would just hate to have to shave my head afterward...I heard you can still take out dreads if you do it soon enough before they really "lock"
I combed in a set of dreadlocks a long time ago, then conditioned them out about a month and a half afterwards. About eight hours, but it worked.
I then went neglect method (just washing, but letting the hair lock up on its own) and have now had dreadlocks for a bit over a year, and I love them! It may sound cheezy, but they are indeed a lifestyle, not just a look. My wife also has dreadlocks, and she likes them better than she liked long straight hair.
They are very low maintainance, requiring only the occasional shampooing to keep clean, and no conditioning.
A possible way to lose the dreadlocks after several years without shaving is to go through a severe "awkward stage" of conditioning and detangling the hair that comes in, and aventually the dreadlocks lose their footing on your scalp and will fall off, leaving the detangled hair underneath. Looks like royal crap for a while, but avoids shaving.

the low maintainence of it is very tempting. Don't have to worry about conditioning and washing, detangling, brushing, split ends are non-existent, just let 'em grow and grow wild.
o. and i think with dreads their is no terminal length. cool huh
They are close to permanent or shave....
don't do it. you have great hair now.
I have to agree from what I saw from the last update picture you posted.
