My son has an issue at work. They want him to cut his hair and not wear the ten small braids at the nape of his neck. His hair is clean and professionally braided one a week. They have told him, "get rid of the braids or take a hike" These are mico braids and he claims heritage rights to keep them. Management says he did not fill out a heritage form so the braids must go or he must go. Any suggestions?
Other than take the hike?
Ask for an opportunity to fill out the form. If they would allow the braids if he had filled out the form at the appropriate time, but won't let him file it now, they seem to be on shakier legal ground than if they just had a blanket prohibition on males with long hair.
Dunno about the USA but in the UK it's illegal to dismiss people unfairly. If they ain't doing their work load ,,yeah. If they are abusing co-workers ,,yeah. If they have a few braid in their hair,, good god no.
i'm sure there are laws in the US about it. Also in the US you have the added bonus of being able to sue the pants of em if they do fire him.
Jus the fact he has them is NO reason to fire him and if they have a religious or cultural place then there is even more reason not to fire him.
You know,...it absolutely amazes that in a country where the President likes his dick sucked by strange women, they create the biggest fuss about how a person looks.
I say look towards your president and........do similarly weird things!!
