Trying to figure out something in my daily schedule. I've been having my wife braid my hair in the mornings, which generally involves wetting it down so it stays braided better, which means I've been taking my showers in the morning.
However, I need to start getting in better shape (hey, round IS a shape), which means taking a shower after I hit the gym. If I try to work out in the morning before work, it means getting up an hour or more earlier than I already do. I'd really rather not.
Working out after work means taking two showers a day, and my hair being wet pretty much all day. It takes mine a good two to three hours (or more) to dry, and it never dries out much while its braided.
Any ideas?
Jim
Instead of showering in the morning, merely wet your hair.
After the gym, wear a shower cap, or whatever they're called, to keep your hair dry. If you're washing your hair every day, consider doing it less often.
I've heard a fair number of doctors claim that Americans bathe to often and that once or twice a week is sufficient.
Personally, if I skip a day, I feel greasy.
Anyway, two ideas.
Only shower after the gym and just use a spray bottle of water to wet your hair in the morning. This has the advantage of getting your hair less wet in the morning so it should dry quicker.
The other option is to just shower in the morning and just sponge off the sweat after the gym. For what it's worth sweat does NOT smell, what causes BO is actually bacteria that grow in damp conditions. If you sweat at the gym and make sure it all dries before changing back into your street clothes, you won't smell.
Because I'm stuck in Iraq with nothing to do, I work out twice a day. I do an aerobic workout in the morning and then shower before going to work. Then I lift weights in the afternoon and don't shower before going back to work. Nobody has ever complained about me smelling, and believe these Jarheads I work with would have no qualms about letting me know if I did.
Good points. I just remembered that talcum powder makes a good dry shower!
LOL, trust me, I know what Marines are like.
Actually, right now I'm only full-up showering two-three times a week, the other days I'm just using the showerhead to wet down my hair before braiding. Right now I'm leaning more towards your first idea. If I didn't shower after a workout I know I'd feel nasty the rest of the day. I'll probably go with lightly wetting it in the morning. I've tried braiding it dry, but it seems to come undone a fair bit more.
CTB, thanks also for your suggestions.
