I'm thinking about getting my hair length cut so it's more even all around. In the front, my hair reaches almost to the bottom of my chin (and farther back, it gets a bit lower than my chin), but in the back, my hair is just about two inches longer than shoulder length. This is probably because I started growing it out from a normal male hairstyle.
This hasn't really bothered me before, but now it is... the additional length in the back is starting to look and feel out of place.
I'm definitely going to have it cut to even length eventually, but I can't decide whether it will be soon, since it is bothering me, or in a couple of months, when it won't make as much of a difference. If soon, then I won't have it cut perfectly even... in the back it will still be an inch or so longer than the front.
In the picture, my hair is pushed in front of my neck. I've posted this picture before; it's probably a couple of weeks old or so, so my hair hasn't changed noticeably.
I've noticed a similar thing happening as my hair grows the bangs actually seem slighlty uneven -well the hair towards the front of my head anyway...
A bit off topic - i was just wondering at your current length whether you can tie your hair back easily?
Mogh
Yeah, I can get almost all of my hair tied back. Having the hair in the back cut a bit shorter won't affect this, though.
Hi Dude,
I think you look great with your hair, and the unevenness is no problem at all! My personal opinion is that it would be best to let it grow for another two inches - by then, it will have evened out all by itself - to a degree, at least - and then you might even decide against a trim. Too many trims may make us lose sight of our goal - growing our hair long in the first place, and sometimes, people have given up after too many trims and buzzed it off - and that would be a pity...
However, in the end you will decide what's right for you. If you do get a trim to even it out, make it a minor one - I suggest less than one inch.
You have ample reason to feel great about your looks whenever you look into a mirror.
Peace,
Hans-Uwe
Yeah, if I do get a trim in the near future, it won't be much.
I don't have split ends, though. At least, I don't have split ends in the front, which I can inspect closely, and the rest of my hair was cut just as long ago as the hair in the front.
i dont know what your goal is but if its upper back and longer it wont be that noticable.
and triming the back can cause it to get big at the bottom. picture a triangle
Realize that unless you cut it yourself (difficult) you have NO control of how much they take off.
My wife went in a couple months back and asked them to even it up and take about 1/2" off. The hacked off about 3 inches. My wife was pissed, to say the least.
I'm with the others, leave it alone and let it grow.
I have had the same problem with hair length and i decided to have it cut in a hair salon...i told them to cut my hair only half an inch from the sides(which was all i needed for evening out my hair), and they ended up cutting over 2.5 inches off my ENTIRE HAIR...that pissed me off quite alot and took about 4 months to regrow, then i realised that had i cut it on my own, it would have been much simpler and i would have gotten what i wanted.
I say carefully cut it on your own, or ask someone that you know you can trust.
Good Luck
