Quite a difference from the shiny dome of the past!
15 Months...no trims, and of course no plans to do so. I don't have any tangles, and if I have spilts...they certainly aren't causing any problems. I may trim around the 2 year mark, but thats only if my hair is in poor condition.
I still can't get a decent ponytail, but I'm more interested in wearing my hair down anyway. Here's the photo, and boy do I look happy in the old one! haha
Looking forward to the 2 year Mark!
Thanks to everyone on the forum. This is a great medium for the journey to long hair, and I'm beyond glad I found it.
your hair looks awesome now!
and no offense but I'm glad you took out those lip rings

Startling indeed! You've got that 'fantasy-hair' a lot of us wish we had that never looks bad. I bet when it's windy and you get back inside, you just have to shake your head a little and everything falls back into place. Do you have Native American ancestors?
Looking great.
See ya later, Bragi
I have 100% Cherokee Indians in my family. They are full blooded Native Americans, and their hair is incredible. I have a grandfather who is 68 years old, has mid-back hair, thats in fantastic shape, and still has natural color!
He also barely has any male pattern baldness.
There's no secret to why the Native American people wore they're hair long. They were truly blessed with incredible hair genetics.
Zac, your hair looks wonderful, and will look awesome when it gets super long. You really should go for waist length or longer. Keep it growing and flowing.

Hair of that length is something I'm interested in, but the amount of effort to keep that much hair in good shape has got be overwhelming. I'm sure I could handle it though.
How has the experience been for you? Washing, Trims, Daily life, etc.
Maybe you sell me the idea of longer than waist length! hahah

Hi Zac, overall, my hair care routine is fairly easy.
I wash my hair every 7 to 10 days. The whole process takes about 2 1/2 hours, including blow drying. (The blow drying takes 1 3/4 to 2 hours of this.)
I trim only split ends. Split ends only affect the last 1/4" of the hair.
When your hair is really long you have to be sure you know where the end of that hair is at all times. When you get up from sitting on the ground, you have to be sure not to place a hand on your hair. Everyday household items can be a threat too. God, I hate door knobs. Folding chairs can be a problem too. When driving my car I put my hair across my lap, on top of the seat belt.
Protecting your hair is important. I keep multiple hair ties on mine at about 4 inch intervals. (See photo. My hair has grown some since the photo was taken.) Also, take a good look at some 19th century photos of Native Americans and you will see that they spiral wrapped their hair. It is hard to tell what they used, but I would guess maybe a strip of buffalo hide. Another alternative is braiding. Take a look at some of those old photos of Native Americans with beautiful braids.
My conclusion: Super long hair requires only a little more time than shoulder length hair, and it is well worth it.

Cool, way to go, you look a lot better now than you did before.
Your hair looks great! It is so thick and straight, but not limp looking, you are lucky!! Would like to see it really long-keep it growing! And, I also like the new look so much better.(don't mind the old piercings though, just another individual expression)
Wow, your hair looks great for 2 months, hehe.
Joking, your picture says "Starting Point - December 2005" should be 2004. Nice hair. :)
Quite a difference, Zac! Your hair looks fantastic, man.
WOW! what a contrast. By golly you have come a long way. Your hair is looking super for 15 months and it it is very healthy. You just looked wrong before with a shaved head. Did you always used to shave your head like that? It makes you look mean and scary i think. Please keep long hair, girls will be more attracted to you aswell cause i think you look alot better looking now.
Outstanding hair! I am so envious! Nice length, colour and condition. It's beautiful indeed. Keep it growing and keep looking after it. It really makes you look good.

You look great with both looks. Should you ever decide to cut it again, shaved is a good choice. But you should keep growing it for as long as you want.
Yes, it is a great difference!!! Long hair definitely suits you.
