Hi there,
Excuse me for being Mr Thick from Europe here. I've noticed that the use of word "awesome" is certainly being used alot more here in the UK now. I know people in north america have been using it for ages. I presume there will be an new entry in the Oxford English Dictionary.
It just seems everything is awesome and I always throught there different words to desribe varing degress of how good something is!!!
John.B
It's the new "cool."
The next notch up is "wicked awesome"!
All I can say is oh dear oh dear hehehe!!!
Awesome(adj) : 1. inspiring awe 2. excellent(informal)
I also use the term alot. I can't really say why though. I think there are degrees.
awful/poor
fair/mediocre
good
excellent/awesome
majestic/sensational/godly
It is just the basic words i use of my vocabulary to show degrees of something i am judging.
I hope trends don't make awesome loose its potency. When a term is used too loosely or over used this is bound to happen.
Awesome insight, John! :)
I'm one of the guilty!
I once told a co-worker that he had done an awesome job. Unfortunately, his English wasn't very good and he misinterpreted my comment as having done an aweful job!
That's the problem with English (s)language...
Ed
That's the problem with any language if a person isn't all that fluent.
i use the word "awsome" only for the highest description of how good something is
sinc ewhere talking about longhar i cant help but use the wrd awosme a lot.....CAUS IT IS!!!! :p
