I know this has possibly been asked many times before but..
Ive recently read on here that hair loss is a normal thing and its no suprise if it worries some first time growers, but is it still normal if the hairloss is visible? I'm only 16 and mpb runs in the males on each side of my family, although my dad is 47 and still hasnt shown much of a sign, but I used to have incredably thick and bushy hair and i will admit I treated it disgustingly.. so now i know without a pic it will be hard to tell but any suggestions or advice will be appreciated, so is the thinning out of my hair the punishment for treating it so badly? or now im roughly at 1yr and 2months is it just natural for thick busy hair to thin down? my hair is also rather curly, but not tight curls.
thank you
You have 100,000 strands of hair on your head.
Shedding is perfectly normal. It is a natural bodily function.
Unless your shedding becomes so severe and excessive that you start noticing bald patches on your scalp then relax dude.
MPB is determined by genes but it doesn't mean that you will go bald. My father is shiny dome but my mum's side have good hair genes and keep their hair doesn't fall out, i have her genes :)
I have thick and bushy hair aswell. You loose around 100 hairs a day, take that as a general guideline before worrying about anything. Also, please look after your hair, there is nothing worse than long hair that is neglected and damaged.
Thanks man youve really stopped me from panicking, I guess Im also just incredably paraniod about my hair, but also I know hair is dead but is there anyway to repair damaged hair, like any special products out? or if i just keep using regular shampoo and conditioner will it repairs itself? Im a huge the cure fan and years of far too much hairspray hasnt done any good for my hair.
I'm paranoid about my hair aswell, so your not alone.
My hair is damaged too. The back of my head has some split ends and excessive sun exposure and UV damage. There are special UV and sun products for your that i can buy but i am simply just conditioning well over the area and keeping an eye on it. The damage is only temporary and it should be ok. In your case it depends on how damaged your hair is. If you have split ends get them cut, don't leave them to worsen. Cut down on hairspray. I use it occasionally when i ponytail my hair , to keep the bangs down. Just condition well, maybe buy a leave-in conditioner and keep an eye on your hair. If the problem doesn't dissapear then consult a professional, i.e salon or hairdresser. Cutting your hair off is a means of a last resort. Just remeber that a prevention is better than a cure(not the band, lol). I wear a hat whenever i go in the sun now to stop the damage worsening.
Hope this helps, cheers.
