For 2 months, I have been thinking about starting over. Instead of that 2 week rule, I extended to 2 months to avoid regret. And after 2 months, the feeling is the same. I plan to shave my head after school's done because I'am worried that the top of my head will look too light because my skin is kind of slightly darker brown. I'll still be on the hyperboard, but not as much now.
After my hair is gone I have a few questions, please. I have always been VERY CONFUSED about when to have MAINTENANCE cuts.Every 6-8 weeks? After about 7-8 months, my hair starts getting tangles after I sleep. How can I prevent this? I heard a silk(or satin?) pillow case will prevent this. Do I use a "wide toothed" comb or an afro pick to comb my hair when it's wet? I thought this was damaging..
And I have wondering what kind of hair products should I try. Moisture or Strength? Since I have thick hair, I assume I have the strength factor..And finally, jojaba oil. I already know the benefits, I'am just saying that obtaining this is another step in my starting over process. When do I apply it? It aids in finger combing right?
I'am absolutely SICK of my hair, and sometimes overall appearance right now. I just know that shaving my head for a new start will make me feel a whole lot better and it's nice trying something new, and don't forget that the growing process makes me happy.
I LOVE long hair; I will never give up on it. I couldn't imagine having another style unless it was for the benefit of having long, healthy hair. I would like to thank everyone on this board for helping me and its just amazing how everybody with a passion for long hair can come together on one spot.
(hahah it just hit me that it seems we're all obsessed about long hair..you can call me obsessed.)
Well , good luck whatever you do. Just don't regret it. It takes a long time to grow long hairs back. I couldn't stand starting all over again, even if my hair was very damaged, it's like a never ending growing journey and you still won't have long hair.
If you take good care of your hair.
I know thats the cliche response around here, but theres much truth in that statement!
15 months ago I was completely bald, and now I'm just a few months away from being done with the "awkard phase" forever.
My hair doesn't tangle, and if I have splits they aren't noticable & certainly aren't causing any problems. I'm not considering triming til the 2 year mark, and even then the trim is only going to happen if I truly need it.
Just care of your hair, do the time, and you'll well on your way.

I understand your frustration. The in-between stage can feel awkward and eat away at your confidence. I shaved my head for three years and started growing it out from that point.
Something to remember if you start out bald - your hair will all be equal length. Equal length does not necessarily look good. It has been 15 months for me. I had to get two trims to eliminate the mullet-action and even things out.
What specifically about your hair is damaged that you want to get rid of it all? If it is split ends, a trim will help.
A good hair-stylist will be able to trim the minimum amount and style your hair in a way that will make it look good and give you confidence. Also, consult with the stylist on the hair products you are using. Some products work better for others. You've got to make certain that you're using the shampoo, conditioner, and any gel or treatment that is right for you and your hair. Finally, don't be afraid to ask the stylist for tips, advice, or just plain "how-to" style your own hair in the morning. After having almost no hair for many years and never learning as a child, I had to ask. It has been well worth it.
Good luck.
