Hi,
I've been thinking about investing in a hairdryer and using the cool setting - just as a way of speeding up the drying process in the morning. I have had to leave home on quite a few occasions to get to work on time with wet/damp hair and as its quite cold at the moment i would really like to avoid doing that.
* Is the cool setting quite a common feature on modern hairdryers?
* Are there any hairdryers you would reccomend (with an approx price)?
* And finally how often do you use a hairdryer and do you use the cool setting?
Many Thanks,
Mogh
1. The cool setting is quite common on modern hairdryers
2. I cannot recommend one, but I do recommend you check out www.amazon.com and www.epinions.com to see what actual consumers have to say about various products.
3. I only use a hairdryer if it's really imperative that my hair be totally dry before I leave the house. I don't like what it does to my hair's texture and volume, most of the time. I let mine air-dry.
I use a hair dryer in the morning because I dont like how it looks when it drys naturaly. I use the hottest setting. I know in the longhair world thats like a cuss word but my hair retains oils like a mother bear gaurds it's cubs and my scalp produces oil like old faithfull so it doesnt really damage my hair. I wouldnt recomend it for anyone else unless your hair is like mine. You will probabaly want to use the cool setting though it will not dry your hair anywhere as fast as a hotter setting. You can usualy find a hair dryer with a cool setting in any store like CVS or something for about 20 bucks. To help it dry faster look for the ones with the fastest fan speed. Also since a normal (not professional) hair dryer isnt too expensive you should probably go ahead and get a non-generic one. No point cutting corners when concerning your hair. Hope this helps. ^.^
Most hair dryers I've known about and used have always had a cool setting, usually low speed with no heat. In the morning, I use a hair dryer but only no closer than a distance of about 1 foot away, on low heat, and keep it moving. I much prefer letting my hair air dry but don't feel like getting up any earlier than I have to! :) I ponytail it for work and won't do it if my hair's at all damp.

If i were you i'd go with the cool setting. I used to hair dry my hair and now i am paying the price of it.
I highly recommend getting one of the newer "infared" blow dryers. My wife and I have seen a significant positive difference in our hair during the past 6 months since we purchased one. The infared heat dries the hair from the inside out, instead of from the outside in (which caused damage). It dries our hair must faster, and at a lower heat setting.
They are pricier (~$60), but well worth it!
