wow, i could not imagine taking care of hair that long. could you imagine the shower drain after he washes his hair? =)
I have heard that his wife helps him with his hair.
Hair is incapable of reaching such an incredible length if there is a lot of shedding taking place. He likely sheds only 10 to 15 strands per day. 10 to 15 strands of 1.75 meters in length would create only a small wad in the shower drain.
The AVERAGE person grows 0.4mm of additional length per day and has 100,000 strands on their head. This comes out to 40 meters of new growth per day. At this rate of growth with hair strands 1.75 meters in length you could only lose 23 strands per day to sustain that length.
Danny's hair certainly grows faster, I would guess maybe 1mm per day. From recent progress photos it is obvious to me that his hair is still growing, so he certainly loses less hair than he grows. (Even at a 1mm per day growth rate, his hair would stop growing with a loss rate of only 57 strands per day.) Again, he likely loses only 15 strands per day max.
My own hair (which is about a meter in length) sheds at a rate of about 22 meters of strands per day. I weigh my shed strands which is easier than counting. A hair strand of 70 microns in diameter weighs about 4.5 milligrams, and I lose about 100 milligrams per day.

i should have remembered that a few weeks back i read about something like this. as hair gets longer it sheds less. i guess i just didnt think of it. you sure do know your hair math.lol thanks for the info.
You've definately got your calculations worked out Absalom. :)
he should get a fringe :P
Thank's Uwe for the update.
So .jack how did you come to that opinion them.

lol, well not that I have anything against fringes, I just think that would be an incredible waste if he were to get one cut (I was joking)
His hair is awesome, yet ridiculous at the same time - a funny paradox. The length and quality is excellent but it's ridiculous thinking about how much work would go into that mane of such a length. Wouldn't he trip over it and get it stuck in the floor monitors etc when it is floor length. Definately waist length would be my absoloute maximum length, if i ever get that long. He must get tangles like a MF!
I wonder if he's trimmed it within the past few months or weeks? Most of the photos are so dark I really can't tell if he's finally reached or passed that point, although the posed picture of him with his back to the camera looks like his hair has been cut.
I read a comment of his several months ago where he said something about when his hair started dragging on the ground and was being stepped on, he'd take a photo of it and then cut it back.
Danny's hair is nothing short of amazing (no pun intended). It is magnificent.
Although I know I will never have hair that long (not many people can, or ever will), I admire people like Danny who are able to, and who do it. It most certainly takes a great deal of time and effort to grow hair that long and healthy . . . and to maintain it.
It's nice to know that there are guys who do have such long hair, even if I'll never be one of them. I applaud them, I envy them, I praise them. May they continue to grow their beautiful manes, and may they inspire others to do likewise.
Just because I can't paint doesn't mean I can't look upon a beautiful painting and admire it.
If I could have ANYONE'S hair, it would be his. To get to that point, you need the patience and dedication to grow it that long (at least 10 years??) and take good care of it, and just deal with all the hassles of keeping it out of the way. In addition, you also need good genes, which most of us lack (including me, unfortunately). I'm afraid my hair's terminal length is far shorter. In any case, it's quite impressive, especially since most of us, for one reason or another, will never reach that point.
If I were him, I'd be tempted to grow it to terminal length, just to see how far it goes (even if it would grow well past floor length, which admittedly would be a huge pain).
