I have been growing my hair for 2 years and it is getting very long, to the point where some problems are starting to occur. Usually i tie it back but when its down it causes some problems. Some the incidents are...
-Me slamming some of hair in the top of my cardoor on a windy day.
-My hair getting stuck in the bolt of an office chair and pulling some out.
-Strands of hair falling into the open flame on my oven when im cooking.
I also lose alot of hair, while i know 100 a day is normal. every time i run my hands through my hair atleast 2/3 times one strand will fall out.
these are just some problems i have with my hair, can anyone relate?
It seems funny that you can hair can become a bit problematic after only 2 years of growth. How long is your hair?
2 yrs = shoulder length + a few additional inches(depending)
Most hair that gets stuck in car doors and the like is usually very long hair .ie midback or longer.
I suppose you just have to conscious about your hair at all times and be careful to avoid these things happening.
You can also tie a bun to avoid this but it kind of detracts from the experience of having long hair, in my opinion.
My hair isn't long enough for me to share my own personal experiences with you, but i'm sure some of the other guys can help you out.
I've had this happen a few times, but actually it's quite a while ago so it wasn't all that long. It doesn't need to be very long for it to get caught if you aren't careful. Be careful :)
That means you can run you fingers through your hair more than 150 times each day before it would even begin to be an issue?
I sure can. Here are some of the problems I have encountered.
Sitting on it while riding my bike. I fold over and tie the last foot or so to remedy this.
Getting caught on door knobs. God, I hate door knobs. Whoever invented them had it in for people with hair longer than waist length. The door knobs in my house are about 3 inches below waist level which for me leaves 14 inches of hair in jeopardy. (My hair hangs to 17 inches below my waist.)
Getting up from sitting on the floor. Murphy's Law states that you are likely to place your hand on your hair as you get up. Ouch.
The bottom line here is that your hair is getting longer and you will need to be more careful. Here are some suggestions.
1) Know where your hair is at all times. Keeping it tied in a segmented ponytail makes this easy. (I tie my hair at 4 inch intervals.)
2) Use extreme caution around power tools and machinery. People have been killed when their hair got caught in machinery.
3) Be careful around intense heat sources. Tie your hair back and/or cover your head and stand to the side when opening the oven.
Anyway, enjoy your hair, but be careful.

Ice Cream on a breezy day with my hair down......
How about hair caught in a CNC mill and ripped her scale off and her bleeding to death... (happened to a factory around here...)
Me slamming some of hair in the top of my cardoor on a windy day.
Longhaired drivers' rule #1: Always make sure all of one's hair is in the car before closing the door.
My hair getting stuck in the bolt of an office chair and pulling some out.
Put a pillowcase over the back of the chair.
Strands of hair falling into the open flame on my oven when im cooking.
Use the rear burners.
I also lose alot of hair, while i know 100 a day is normal. every time i run my hands through my hair atleast 2/3 times one strand will fall out.
I think you're just noticing shedding more with long hair.
Every longhair goes through what you're describing. Just be careful, and let us know when sitting on one's hair becomes problematic!

The wise thing to do would be to tie back your hair while your cooking... you don't want your whole head to catch on fire..
Good advice. My hair is long enough to stay behind my shoulders, but just in case...

"...Put a pillowcase over the back of the chair..."
Great Advise !! Thanks

Yeah the car door scenario sucks! You just have to take your time. It's a good lesson for general life - think things through!
As for hair loss, take a multivitamin if you're not doing so already. I noticed an enormous reduction in shedding after doing so.
yeah i have a lot of problems with shedding too...for some reason i feel like i shed more than i should but again im only a newb. Anything i can do to shed less?
Another thing i hate is when i am travelling in the car and the other occupants decide to put the windows all the way down. Since i usually wear my hair loose all the wind makes my hair go everywhere and i get really pissed off and tell them to close the windows because of my hair , lol.
Getting my hair caught on the backs of chairs is the point where I get my hair trimmed each year. I am a teacher, so i am around a lot of chair/desk furniture. I just cannot abide that kind of snagging. So, I keep my hair about mid-back. Longer than that and the snags begin to happen.

The chair is sometimes a problem but my German Shepherd she is a big problem. She likes to play tug o war with my hair:) I've had her for seven years now and she loves to pull my hair to get me to play with her.LOL Samantha does it for fun and I let her get away with it.
