Hi guys. I decided to post March update as i'm bored at home and i have lots of spare time :)
Yesterday some people who had not seen me for a year were suprised at how much my hair had grown with comments like "your hair is so long", nothing better than nice compliments from others. The damage is dissapearing and my hair is coming back to its condition again. I have noticed that as my hair is getting longer it is 'filling out' on the sides and back. This is what my hair looked at 13 months, notice how the back is still very short and doesn't touch the shoulders.

This is the side at 16 months -

Bandana shot -
Sometimes i enjoy wearing a bandana with my hair tied up in a ponytail. It really helps with the awkward stage and looks pretty cool.
Zombie dudes -
These are the great dudes from over at the buzzboard.
Looks really good there 80s as I commend you for sticking it out for all those months in spite of the awkward stage effect. If your hair weren't so curly I bet it would be several inches longer but thats ok as the curly hair looks great on you!I also like your enthusiasm about growing your hair which is nice to hear also.Well keep it up and post followups whenever you get the chance.Mark
Thanks alot Hairball. I would love to have hair as long as yours is one day. If i pull my curls they cover most of my shoulder blades and are alot longer than they appear. I do enjoy the added volume and weight that curls give so that is an advantage of my hair, even though it will take longer to look 'long'.
Your hair is looking great. Lots of curls I see. :-)
I don't think I really knew how curly your hair really was until I saw these last photos with the close-ups. You can really see each curl.
I can imagine that your hair takes a lot of work, you really have great patience, but man it shows, its looking great.
It is very curly at the back. The front of my hair is relatively straighter then the back. Don't know why this is actually?
Actually, the further i have come in my journey, the more knowledge i have aquired and this has helped me immensely.
So long hair is becoming less and less work as i find out what works best for me.
Nice, 80's. I especially like the bandana shot - I gotta get one of those. They look sooo cool.
Your hair in the back seems more or less the same length as mine, and wow, what a difference from just 3 months ago. Does your hair sometimes brush your lower neck? I love that feeling...makes you feel like your curls are actually growing!
The back of your hair looks a lot better than I expected, what with all the damage you were trying to fix up back there. And the sides have some nice waves to them. We both seem to have some frizz, but hopefully that'll go away with time.
Awesome progress as usual, dude!
Thanks
Yes, when i tilt my head back it rubs against my shoulder blades and feels good.
My hair tends to get very frizzy no matter what i do. I think it might be all the harsh minerals and other things in my water supply. I might buy a shower filter.
Thanks alot man.
you really have come a long way. your hair is just gonna look more and more awesome the longer it gets. long hair with lots of volume is something that i have always liked.
awsome as usual i can see the dameged hair i think
keep it up man!!!!!!!
Wow, just amazing! Your hair is really taking off big time and looks terrific! Thanks for posting the "early update." It truly shows what one can do when they are truly dedicated to growing out their hair and taking good care of it. Simply fantastic. No "Zombie" are you.
HAHA thanks for the compliments Justin. The zombie dudes are from the video game "Doom". Kind of a personal joke i refer to about the buzzboard.
Looking great and just getting better all of the time, 80's!
The damaged hairs will shed one by one and be replaced by heathier hair now that you're taking better care of it.
Keep the great progress,
- Oren
Thanks Oren. When are you going to post an update. You have great hair aswell!
Hallelujhia! That is nice to hear. That is very logical and true, yet i never thought of that before. Time will repair. Infact there are special anti-sun and UV ray products you can buy for hair, it's just that i don't wanna spend heaps of money on hair products since the damage is only moderate.
Looking good 80s_Metal, once it hits shoulder length, it should look really amazing.
I canno't wait for this to happen. Then my short term goal of becoming an official long hair is a victory :) Your hair is amazing too so keep it up dude.

Gee Man
What a great way to wear your hair with a Bandana sure beats wearing a tail looks great now watch below lol
Nice pics, 80s. Your hair's coming along real well!

Hey, I didn't realize how tight your curls were. That is great. Your hair is looking better every time.
Although it seems the curly hair is hard to deal with, the finished product will no doubt be the envy of all.

hello 80's,
well i must say after seeing this pics i can really imagine that it is a lot of work to keep your hair healthy (i am complaining about mine much but i think its nothing against yours hehe) ...
so i hope you keep your optimism and keep them growin' ...
i also must say it looks great for 16 months and i hope i can see your hair at midback or longer one day ...
curly hair looks so **** great in my opinion and yours (and of course the pics of some other guys here) are the best evidence ... really, really great !
btw: i've seen a movie about 2 months ago and there was a radio moderator, which has midlength to waist-length curly hair and it was simply IMRESSIVE !
can't remeber the movie - otherwise i would have posted a pic here :)
i hope (and think) that you keep your optimism - your hair really looks great !!
and if there are days where you think it looks bad or so then always remember that there are days like on these pics ...
greez from a great admirer of curly hair,
ALH
btw: it#s interesting - some guys here are straighenting their hair but i have straight hair and would like curly hair :)
Thanks for your words of inspiration Austrian Long hair!
Hi 80's Metal! Your hair is looking really good. Those tight curls are starting to hang down now. Your patience is really paying off, keep the updates coming!
Your hair is starting to tame down. I can see it is a real challenge to grow curly hair long. I see you are starting to show helical hanging ringlets in the back. In due time most of your hair will have those hanging ringlets and the frizziness that you currently suffer from will be a thing of the past. Happy growing.

Thanks alot Absalom. I agree, the awkward stage is passing. Who do i reduce frizz? i think my water supply might be exacerbating the problem.
Hi 80s_Metal, it sounds like hard water to me. It probably has a lot of minerals in it. (The San Francisco bay area has soft water, so I do not have experience with this problem.)
Before you lose hope here, I can think of a solution, however. Try rinsing out your hair conditioner with FILTERED water. I have never tried this personally, but in theory it should work. Each final rinse for hair of your length and volume would require maybe 5 liters of water. It would add some cost to your hair care routine since you do need to periodically replace the filter element. The cost may be well worth it.
Also, I use Garnier Fructis Long and Strong conditiioner on my hair which helps with the frizz and tangles. This is the best conditioner I have ever used.

Got here late, I guess... well, no matter, I still wanted to compliment you for the great work you´ve done so far... your hair looks absolutely amazing!
By the way... been playing too much Doom lately, eh? Haha.
Ok man, take care, and good luck!
