Hi folks,
I have to travel to Bahrain (Middle East) for a few days later in the year, does anyone know how long hair is accepted there?
From the little I know, I don't think I'll have any problems but I wanted to get some opinions from other longhairs...
Thanks in advance,
Martin
Well if you wear a turbine who is going to suspect the length of your hair?
I would be more worried about other issues than hair if i was travelling into the Middle East. Good luck!
hey Martin, i can honestly tell you that in many place in the middle east, alot of people walk around with long hair down their back (mostly girls). most guys won't let their hair grow past their shoulders but you shouldn't have any problems as long as you keep your hair well maintained.
is it a muslim country????
because ive been told long hair is accepted by muslims as long as men dont try to imitate women.......or sometihn like that
Hi Martin,
if my tourist experience in Egypt and Jordan in 1995 has any relevance for Bahrain today, then the answer is "No problem at all." Once or twice some guy tried to touch my ponytail, that was all. Have a good trip!

I was in Morocco last summer. Aside from getting offered drugs fairly often (maybe because of the hair, I'm not sure), I had an excellent time. I think long hair can make a man very approachable.
it's not your hair. alot of people smoke in the middle east lol
When I still had long hair I was once in Egypt, and at least there long hair was no problem. I'd guess it's the same in Bahrain too. Once a hotel employee tried to prevent me from entering to men's bathroom but he realized his mistake soon enough :) Got also pretty much attention from the local girls, like pulling my ponytail and giggling. I guess blond long haired guy isn't the most common sight there ;)
Thanks to all for your replies.
Someone mentioned the gender issue - that is one thing I'm (mildly) worried about because I'll need to deal with the beaurocracy there, but I'm glad that noone has reported a negative experience in the region.
Peace,
Martin
I lived in Kuwait 1993-95 and spent a weekend in Bahrain during that time. No problem with a gray ponytail in either place. The Middle East has people from all over the world, bringing their customs with them, and with the exception of Saudi Arabia, I have never found any discrimination.
