My hair was getting a bit tangled, so I washed it, conditioned it, while the stuff was still in ran a detangling comb through it very slowly (took about 20 minutes). Washed it all out in cold water and let it drip try.
I hadn't brushed it for a month.

and i can't wait to hit the 2 year mark.
You should be detangling and brushing whilst wet atleast a few times per month. I usually never brush my hair while it is wet because hair is most fragile and breaks easily but it needs to be done for us curly hairs to keep our hair in good condition and remove knots, tangles and other nasties.
