How's it going? I'm a sixteen year old guy who wants to grow his hair long. I've been wanting to do this in the past but after about a few months of growth, I would feel uncomfortable with the hair that I would just get a haircut. If I didn't get the haircut, I would have had long hair right now. It's something that I really regret. Plus I'm also a bit worried about how it will grow out. My hair is very thick and wavy and I don't want it to become a mess if I grow it out. I have friends who grew theirs out and it looks terrible on them (not saying that all long hair looks terrible) and I hope that mine doesn't look like theirs. If I grow mine out, will it eventually look nice and straight?
I have VERY short hair right now so I'll probably have a long journey ahead of me. How can I pull through without getting second thoughts? Thanks guys.
Easy! Just let it grow and don't think twice.
Welcome.
Well that's a very open-ended question with too much to say. I suggest you read the RAQ and FAQ in the "links" section before posting.
You've just got to stick it out for at least a year. And start taking good care of it now. Your hair will thank you when it's longer.
And i went throught EVERYTHING you mentioned. You may experience a million doubts, you mayeven end up HATING yourself at times.
Doubts may come about EVERY day at times. Prepare yourself: but if
you can make it to the ponytail stage this may start changing for the better.
Good Luck...and now let's see how 'strong' you are!
Well if my hair's any reference for yours (it's wavy and thick too), let me show you what it looked like in May 2005 (yeah no update pic yet, this is an old one).
growing hair is easy, much easier than losing weight and stuff. All you have to do to grow your hair is .... nothing.
but u do have to go through the awkard stage so you are just going to have to tough it out...
If I grow mine out, will it eventually look nice and straight?
nobody knows that - you will see it if it is longer ...
your hair can be curly, wavy or straight - it also can be thin, normal or thick - and ALL of these types can look neat if you care about it !
unfortunately these are natural factors where most of them are not 'changeable' (some of them are temporarly changeable but not permanent) ...
there are tools/utilities which can change your hair temporarely (e.g. hair straighteners) but most of them will damage your hair so it's recommended to let your hair in your natural condition ...
1) have ALOT patience
2) have - if possible - NO trims/maintainance cuts
3) do NOT give too much on the opinion of others
4) try to use as less tools to 'modify' your hair as possible
5) in akward stage there are alot of things which can let your hair look nicer (some guys here have alot of hints about that) - if you require it ...
6) try to find out the correct products for your hair (shampoo/conditioner/oil/...)
7) kill everyone who wants to cut your hair ;)
the journey is a great experience - u have good days and u will have bad days - at last it's a good test for you ...
well i wish u luck with your hair and have a great time during growin' it out - greez,
