Hey,
I have about an inch of hair now, and I want to grow it out to around 9 inches. It's very wavy and it's been damaged by constant shampooing. I have seen the light. Do you have any recommendations for a course of action before I begin growing my hair out?
An inch of hair and damaged? It's probably in better condition than you think, but you might try adding conditioner? I probably wouldn't worry too much about it until you've got some more length. Just don't go bleaching/dying it, straightening it, or setting it on fire! :D
If you have any real damage then (I might get some flack for suggesting this) maybe cutting it off and starting over might be a solution (mind you a set-back)?
When you have a mere inch of hair there is no such thing as a setback. It will grow back in 2 months. However, i don;t think this is necessary if he starts looking after his hair.
Dude, stop shampooing everyday and condition more often, it should help alot.
Yeah, I'm gonna shampoo max 3 days a week after talking to others about it.
it depends...is your hair really dry? or really oily?
if it's really dry then you might want to cut down how often you wash your hair. try not to do it more than twice a week. stretch for once a week if you can. and try using a conditioner specifically designed for dry hair. i use Dove Shampoo and Conditioner Intense Moisturizers bc my hair is pretty dry. if it gets extra dry still, just rub some conditioner through your hair to give it some level of moisture. that way it'll have some protection from the elements (excessively DRY weather, sunlight, blow-drying, etc)
if your hair is really oily then you should probably still wash your hair no more than a couple of times a week so that you.
don't brush your hair while it's wet--comb it while it's wet and then wait until it's dry enough so that you can brush it.
