What a shame; both the arrest (and reason for it) and the obvious deterioration of his appearance. I had also thought of Yanni as a very handsome, very international, very sexy-looking man. And his hair was always part of that vision. He did have gorgeous hair. I suspect what you see in his mug-shot is a significant (and unfortunate) haircut.

I don't think that his appearance is necessairly unkept or run down. His hair is naturally wavey and so what if he didn't shave for a day or two, at his age his facial hair is getting gray...it'll happen to you too (already happening to me).

Those in the spotlight are always changing their appearance. He may have given in to the "I'm getting older and should wear my hair shorter" bug.
He also might have gotten flak (along with lots of praise) for his hair and is seeking to get away from the focus on that (not a good reason for short hair though).

Yanni has always had his own hair......and it was awesome when it was long! He actually inspired me to begin growing mine.
He moved back to Greece and lived with his parents for a couple of years. He's been going through some mental/emotional issues that stemmed from his success.
My wife and I saw him in concert several years ago with the full orchestra.
