where you grow the top out and shave the sides to the back? i used to have that and now i want to grow it out again but no ones knows how to cut it right and well the last time i got it cut they ruined it

Its called an undercut. You have to be real clear and careful
about telling your stylist or barber how to cut it.

The only point I'm trying to make here is that we are always
wanting everybody else to tolerate long hair but we have no

When I first saw that picture I thought he had a load of grass on his head!
I think undercuts are fine but they seem very impractical to me. The hassles of short hair (frequent haircuts, cold air on the scalp, hair sticking up etc) married to the hassles of long hair (we've discussed those enough!).
It looks like a really wide mowhawk or a narrow under cut to me.
