Maybe abaslom is better at this...
I tried to tie dye a sprial but I soaked the thing with dye and all I get is a bunch of white spaces and colors looking yucky in the middle due to them all mixing at once. Can someone help me out here??
That shirt looks cool..... very colorful!! Very 1960's, i like it!
Regardless, it looks pretty cool, Tai Fu. It turned out pretty nicely and will only get better as you practise and get more experience with tie dying. Maybe you should do a google search for some tie dying websites that have instructions and tips.
I don't have a clue about tie dying but i really would like to make my own psychadelic t-shirt one day!
Hey Tai Fu... the shirts look real cool! I've thought about trying tie dye, but never have... yet. Good luck with future tie dye projects!
Hey, that is a very impressive 1st! Looks great at least to my eyes.
I think for less white squirt in more colour between the bundled-up folds as best as you can in the Tie Dye process when the T Shirt is all wet and rubber-banded up.
There must be books on it.
Good first try, Tai Fu.

Here are the basic instructions on tie dyeing. For a spiral, always apply the primary colours (red yellow blue) first. Allow the tips of the pie wedges of each primary colour to touch slightly at the center. Be sure to leave white spaces in between the primary colours. Apply the secondary colours (green orange purple) to those white areas. The key here is to allow the primary colours to touch, but not allow the secondary colours to touch each other. This should be done on BOTH sides.
Also, prior to applying the dyes, be sure to wring out most of the soak solution, so the shirt is just damp rather than dripping wet.
I really need to do a series of photos to show you best how to do it right. I will need the assistance of a friend taking the photos, since I don't want to get dye, urea, or soda ash all over my camera.

Hey Absalom,
If you want, I can take the pics for you. I'm down here in San Jose. Just send me an email and let's see if we can meet up.

Not bad for a first shot at it!
Part of the fun is getting something you didn't quite expect.
