Okay. I hear that your hair is weakest when it's wet.
For pretty much as long as I've had my hair past my chin, when I got out of the shower I would gently comb my hair out. And air dry it of course, I never use blow dryers or any of that junk.
So is that bad or something? And how is hair "weaker" when it's wet? I only seem to lose a few hairs when I do this, maybe 5 at the very very most on a bad day. They don't seem to snap too easy either, so I'm not sure if the strand of hair is weaker or the root, or what. Just wondering.
Wondering about the same thing myself. My dad (who has a short hair) says it's really bad to comb one's hair right after the shower. But I noticed that although I comb it and it feels slightly painful, I lose almost no hairs, maybe one or two.
Also, my hair is extremely knotted after I take a shower. Should I losen them every time or only occasionaly? Should I wait until it dries up before starting to comb and unknot them?
oh yours too? lol undo the curls/knots with your fingers, and then gently comb through your hair with a wide-tooth comb. it'll cut down on the amount of breakage, and it can make your scalp feel great as though you have just massaged it.
Brushing on the other hand can be pretty destructive. I've always detangled my hair with my fingers (while wet) and used a wide toothed comb afterwards. No harm done.
...I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just be carefula nd gentle.
After shampooing, I add lots of conditioner to my hair. And while the conditioner is still inmy hair, I gently 'comb' my hair with my fingers. Then, when I feel that all the tangles have been worked out...I switch over to a wide-tooth comb and finish off the job. Then I rinse out the conditioner and do a
final comb through with the wide tooth comb.
Try not to worry and Good Luck!
Hey thanks for the advice, I think you're right too! I can't really think of anything else to do--unless I want to leave my hair all tangled, haha--besides to just comb it gently. Thanks again!
Personally, I find it much easier and safer to comb while it's wet. That is, when it is dry, more hairs get pulled out when I comb, and my hair doesn't 'stay' if I comb it dry.
