LOL, i just had a shower and ponytailed my hair(yes, i am hipocritial Axel hehe) and all my family is saying i look like a mafia dude. It looks a bit like it cause it is slicked back with gel and tied up. Pretty funny that my parents keep joking with me. I don't really think i do lol, i look like a little baby faced kid with a ponytail haha. All i need is a suit, a cigar and a heavy Italino accent :)
When you guys ponytail your hair do you do it whilst wet or dry? I have been practicing and i think i am getting the hang of tying one on my own. I grab the hair tightly, place the band over it , pull it up and then wrap it around again to tighen it.
I find it easier to tie when my hair is wet out of the shower after conditioning cause its easier to comb it back and stuff but i tend to loose too much hair when tying it whilst wet. Maybe i should dry my hair a bif first next time.
well...my hair's not long enough to pony tail yet. i've got another 10 months before that happens lol but my stepsisters usually tie their hair when it's semi-dry.
Oh yes Jean you lose more hair while tie it back when its wet because your hair is more likely to break its more stronger when its dry to tie your hair back I dont like wearing it a tail myself as you know but if i do Tie it back I do it when its dry !

I wear mine wet or dry... and always tight..
Usually dry for me. Though sometimes while I'm waiting for my hair to dry after a shower I'll put it up in a ponytail for a bit.
For myself I will only do it when dry. If still wet some hairs may be snaped or pulled out. But your "hair type" is much different than is my own. All I can think is that when wet your hair is in the most vulnerable state.
Don't worry, you will get the hang of doing the tie for the ponytail. It is the most difficult to do when the hair is shorter. Sure, it takes some practice, but once mastered is a cinch. You have mastered and discovered in such a short time what works best for you. I don't think most guys are that quick at figuring-out. And that includes myself. Yikes!
I agree with Justins statement above. I almost never tie my hair when it's wet... only if absolutely necessary, like if I have to get to work and my hair isn't dry yet, I have no choice but to tie it up wet especially since I never use a blowdryer. Also, I find that when I tie it wet, it doesn't fully dry, or it takes forever to dry completely. My hair stays wet/damp almost all day, until I untie it and let it finish airdrying... So I try to allow ample time for my hair to dry after I wash it (about 2 hours) before tying it.

I tie my hair up wet (after combing it first.) Then I'm ready to go.
It's a bit more convenient for work, when I don't have much time in the morning. On weekend's, I leave it down.
I tend to find myself smoothing it back occasionally during the day as well, with water. Usually by the afternoon, however, it's dry and stays up.
Some years ago, a saw a TV documentary about Sicily, and I noted that there seems to be a tradition of long hair on men, perhaps tracing back to the ancient Greek colonies on the island... it was stunning to see simple rural men like fishermen etc. sporting beards and awesome shoulder-length manes!
And in a news report featuring the arresting of the famous-infamous mafia boss Toto Riina, also some longhairs were around... but I can't guess from memory whether it were Riina's accomplices, reporters or even local security men!
See you in Khyberspace!

Now playing: Barbakane (Tangerine Dream) - recorded live 1983/84 in Warsaw, Poland, must have been one of the coldest concerts ever in rock history, with subzero temperatures on stage in a music hall about to collapse under two metres of snow...
