It will be one year in a couple of weeks for me and I'm at a point where wearing a hat comes in handy, especially one windy days but I sure do look goofy wearing it but I need to at times.
David(Who can't wait to have a ponytail)
i can't wait to wear a pony tail. but it'll be another 10 months or so before i can wear one. :( oh well for the most part, my hair is turning out really nicely (except for when i leave it frizzy for days on end looooool)
I wore hats through most of the awkward stage until i could tie a ponytail. You don't need to style your hair and worry about it, just tuck it under the hat and leave it. I like letting the back hairs stick out and tucking the sides in the hat, that way people thinking i'm growing a mullet, hehehe.
I know,
The back of my hair is now touching my shoulders and the sides are almost to my shoulder. I like parting my hair in the middle but in awhile I like to experiment by parting on the side. I truly needed to start wearing a hat for when I go out, the wind just pushes my hair right into my face and I'm not able to see but if I'm at home it doesn't really bother me...
I know what you mean about the wind David. I have just gotten to the point that on windy days there are times when I just can't see for all that hair in my way. I have never worn hats except in winter, but I may need to do something like that until its long enough to tie back properly.
I HATE the wind!
Sometimes when i'm outside it can be so unbearable. Hair all in your face and you keep brushing it behind your ears but the wind keeps pulling it forward. When i walk against the wind this doesn't happen as much because my hair is being pulled behind me and not in front of my face. Never walk in the direction of the wind, your hair just goes crazy.
Obviously this isn;t very practical and i can't change my direction over the wind's movement so i simply tie a ponytail or wear a hat.
I never had this problem with short hair, obviously.
The wind is one thing,
Still feeling uncomfy while my hair is blowing in the wind(that sounds like a song?). I'll be very happy with myself once I reach that totally comfy I feel 100 percent with who I am and part of my personality is long hair which represents true self.
"...but I sure do look goofy wearing it but I need to at times..."
Hat is Goofy ! Aw come-on ! HA!
Actually if you pick and wear a hat for the sake of wearing a hat and NOT to cover something, there is a lot of style...
And the women folk think it is pretty appealing...
Try a couple of different styles, you may like the look.

You have a point,
If I can find a cool looking hat, I'm wearing a baseball type hat that I got from the car dealership where I purchased my new car but the hippie in me doesn't like advertising their logo so I must find a new, cool looking hat.
