I have bad problems with frizz and my hair looks like crap after it dries usually. You don't see these on my prog photos since they are 'perfect' shots of my hair but it is a problem for me.
What i found helps alot is to let my hair air dry a bit after i shower. Then brush it back and tie in in a ponytail when it is only semi damp(not wet). A bit of hairspray or gel helps. After a few hours i take my hair out of the ponytail and it comes out looking straighter, no frizz and carries alot more volume and weight.
It alot makes my hair 'shape up' more nicely.
If you click on my avator photo you can see 2 new photos i have taken which prove the results of this. I think i'm gonna start doing this everytime i wash my hair.

I've been trying this recently. The first time I did it, my hair looked PERFECT afterwards - almost exactly how I want it to look. However, since then, it hasn't had much (if any) effect.
I think the problem lies in that I take a shower at night, so I can't pull it back long enough. The first time I did it, was on a Saturday, so I could stay up later.
May I suggest a segmented ponytail?
Usually when i do this it is not intentionally. I would have a shower, tie up my hair for work and then when i come home(8 hours later or so) i would pull my hair out of the tail and then it would be 'set'. You have to give your hair enough time to dry and 'set' to do this properly. A tip may be to cover your hair with a shower cap and don't get your hair wet every time you shower/bath, maybe every 2nd day is better. That way you save time and won't have to keep doing it every day.
No, my hair isn't quite long enough, as of yet. I am barely able to even tie a ponytail, let alone a segmented one. However as my hair increases in length this will be something to consider.
Ah, that makes sense. I can only pull it back for about an hour or so.
And I wash my hair every other day/3 days, so no need for a shower cap.

Oh Man to much washing the hair with shampoo removes all the natural oils out of your hair I prefer to use more conditioner than shampoo as conditioner doesnt dry the hair out like shampoo does !
Axel
Yeah, I don't use much shampoo - a little dot, leave it in for 10 seconds, and rinse out. Then a combination of 4 conditioners mixed together, leave in for 5 minutes, mostly rinse out. And I do have quite an oily scalp.
Oh so tell me which four conditioners they are that you use on your hair as im always buying different conditioners the best by far so far is Three minute aussie mirale grow its abit more expensive that the others but worth every penny I leave conditioners in for anything from 20 minutes to an hour
Your hair is looking good. Your new method is working well to control the frizz. When it gets longer, the extra weight will straighten it out further, and you will find gravity to be your best friend in the end.

Hey 80's i can definately see a difference there
it looks a lot more healthier for starters and little frizz that i can seem congrats.

Lookin good.... i have yet 2 find a way 2 reduce frizz after taking a shower, i can't use ur method yet as my hairs not long enough for a ponytail but i'll try remember this when it is.. thanx for the pointers! ur hairs lookin great man...
hi 80's,
well i must say that your hair looks great on EVERY pic u posted here - i can't see any bad hairs / damage / whatever here ...
(maybe i am blind to this - i generally can't say i have seen many people with 'bad', damaged, whatever hair or i am so fascinated by long hair that i don't see it :)
few weeks ago i saw a movie about a (rock/metal) radio moderator, who has waist length, very curly hair (like your hair type) and it looked sooooo great !
unfortunately i haven't remembered the name of the movie, otherwise i would have posted a pic from this guy here ...
but i can tell u - IT'S REALLY WORTH GROWING YOUR HAIR LONG !
greez & let it grow,
ALH
Glad you found the "trick" that does the job for your own hair type. Great news! But really, that is what one has to do as we are all different. It is all trial and error and suddenly you will have all the pieces together. And it sure looks as if you are getting VERY close to knowing just what works best for you and what your hair needs.
Good work! :-)
Looking good, 80s.
I must say - there's some considerable difference between your earlier shots and the latest.
And those pics of you with the guitar are just crying out for a super-long mane. You've definitely made the right decision to grow the hair out.
Looking great! My only crit is that it makes the front and sides of your hair pretty dang straight with a slight wave. It looks really sweet, but when I compare it to your avatar, you look like two different people with the straight hair vs the curls. I like the curls more, but hey, whatever works.
I get crazy frizz too. I'll try this out. Thanks!
I really appreciate all the inspiring compliments about my hair. I also hope this method or technique can be of some use to people sufferering from frizz.
tonight i attended a meeting with a my mom and her group (they're going to Turkey this month). anyway another long hair was at the meeting and said that he found rubbing some shea butter through his hair is helpful for eliminating frizz and straightening his hair. and his curls are about as big as yours.
just thought i would pass that along to you. maybe i'll try it myself
Good tip 80s. I tried it and it and my hair looked much better.
