my hair is about a little over 3 inches now and i still have not done it lol my hair is thick and has alot of body so it stands up some. i'm thinking of waiting until either i hit the 1 year mark or the 18 month mark lol and i'm curious to know when everybody start.
I started parting my hair like... 3 or 4 months afer I started growing. My hair is also thik, like yours, and I know it can be hard... Just do it when you want to, it's not necessary to part hair, it's your choice =)
Once your bangs get long enough to get in your eyes and face then it is time to try a centre part(or slick it back).
I think i started doing this style around 9-10 months to make the growing out stages more bearable.
i would say that when your hair starts getting in your eyes it time to part it. if you waited until a year or 18 months to part it you would look like cousin it.lol
Parting my hair is something I used to do when I had short hair. I quit parting it when I decided to let it grow out and haven't intentionally parted it since.
That's because you slick it back with gel. Sometimes i brush or slick it back but it makes me look as if i have a mullet.
Yeh, I have to say I'm not really a big fan of the slicked back style with gel, at least not for myself anyway...
I would rather part my hair (as i do), one of the reasons actually being that I dont require any products to hold my hair in place!
Mogh
I did it too early, like 5 or 6 months into growing (and center-parts look realllllly weird on short curly hair). I'd say once your bangs are in your eyes (should take a while if your hair's curly), then do it. Otherwise just slick it back or let if fro out.
I never really had hair short enough to go without a part. And it sort of always parted a little on my forhead anyway if I combed it forward.
after reading them all, i think i'll wait until i hit that one year mark :) lol
When I started growing it out, I'd always brush it straight back and used hair spray to hold it in place. I've got real fine hair and when it was long enough [if I remember correctly, about 8-10 months], it sorta just parted by itself!

Never parted my hair...just went for the surfer look. Prefer the bangs in the eyes lol.
I almost always comb my hair backwards as it still looks quite messy/frizzy when i attempt to part it, guess i'll have to wait til it gets a little longer.
hehe i don't think it's so bad as long as your hair is heavy. but if it tries to stand up like mine it an be a hassle trying to deal with it. my hair is soooooooooo thick especially on the top. i guess finally breakfast (cheese and egg sandwich) in the morning for a month has paid off better than expected lol
i'm hoping my omega-3 will make my hair and scalp become oily and heavy so i can easily brush my hair straight. if i do it while it's extra dry it looks soooooooo frizzy and coarse =s
I never did start to part my hair, I just let it do it's own thing.
I guess it became so heavy as to part by itself at around 8 months of growth.
After that I've just let my hair part where it wants to naturally, and then used my fingers or a comb to catch the stray hairs.
