Hey there fellows!
I've been geting realy worried about my hair because the ends. They are so, so, so, so, so dry that you just can't imagine. I am so surprised that it is not all plit, it's really really dry. I use LOTS, and I mean LOTS of conditioner, and I have used oil once, and it doesn't seems to get better. And I don't really want to trim my hair =S What should I do?? This really anoys me... is there anybody who is also on this situation?
Oh my, thank's for reading guys... I realy could use some help here =S
If the ends are as bad as you say, a trim of a 1/4 inch (centimeter?) or so would be hardly noticeable and would make a big difference.
However, you may not have split ends. Can you see them? Do the ends of your hair feel rough when you run your hand/fingers over it?
Do you get lots of snags and tangles that are hard to comb through when you comb your hair, either wet or dry?
You could be very well using too much conditioner. Especially if it contains silicon type chemicals, it could be building up and seeming like dryness or split ends. You really don't have to use that much. Just enough to get it all through your hair so it will be easy to comb and not be like pine straw.
If the ends of your hair shafts are a blunt cut or are pointy, this is a hair that is not split on the end of the shaft.
If the hair shaft is not split, then the apparent dryness may just be your hair's natural way of falling toward the ends, or the weather. Relative humidity can have a great effect on the behavior of hair. I don't know what your climate is like exactly, but do your find on certain days/certain times of the year that your hair behaves better?
I have no idea that I have helped you, but maybe! And if it is any consolation, from the fotos you posted a few days ago, I would not think anything to be wrong with your hair. It looked to be in great condition and very healthy.
Boa Sorte!
I think Bragi is right on the money. Do you use conditioner with silicones in it? They may be sealing off your ends and not allowing moisture to penetrate. I'd been having a similar problem until recently when I clarified and did a very deep and silicone free treatment.
If you're interested in reading about the treatment I'm using you can find it on the Long Hair Community boards (under Snowy's Deep Moisture Treatment). Here's the link: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=14635&highlight=moisture+treat
Hope it helps! :)
Hi João David,
I suspect that your hair is doing absolutely o.k. If you want, you can try some grease on the dry ends, or perhaps some anti-frizz gel (also marketed as anti-split ends gel) that contains dimethicone and cyclomethicone.
No reason to worry!

I know you don't want to trim it, but sometimes it's for the best. Just a bit, like 1/4 inch. It really helps mine and it begins to grow quicker. It's as if the nutrients just don't make it to the ends for some reason. But once I trim it, it improves! If I don't the ends begin to split higher and higher.
My hair is quite like yours and i got some problems like that also just 3 weeks ago. So I will try to help with what i experienced and what seemed to work for me...
Ok, first off, using too much conditioner can have a reverse effect on your hair(causing more dryness)...so i would cut back on the conditioner a little.
2nd... try using more 'natural' conditioners and shampoos, becuase most chemicals in the conditioners and shampoos can really mess up the hair. Also, do you use any other hair appliances or leave-ins? if so, i'd say try not to use too many stuff on your hair, it will put too much stress on the hair and therefore that's not good.
Doing what i told you should help get rid of frizz...keep split ends from happening, and get rid of dryness...worked for me.
Good luck, and no worries!

Hey man... I have a similar problem. My ends are in pretty bad shape, and they always have been. I just have coarse hair, and split ends and dryness are almost unavoidable. To make up for this, I use moisturizing conditioner from Fructis or Dove every time I wash (every 3 days). Then after I wash I apply about 8 drops of Jojoba oil to my hands, and rub it in to my ends. This doesn't really do much, but it's better then nothing. Just try using a little oil (coconut, jojoba, etc.) in your hair ends after each wash and after a while you may see a difference...
