The post below was more of a specific topic post. I have a couple of questions and thought I would just go ahead and make it a 2 post deal. ^.^ Here's the thing. My hair has been ever so frizzy lately. I think it is due to a number of things. I dry my hair with a blow dryer on hot setting and I think it has finanly started to take it's toll on my hair. Also I think I have some dead ends in my hair. I'll be going to even up the back of my hair with the sides in a few months and that should solve the 2nd problem. For the first I went and got a heat protectant to help with the hair drying out. I also got a leave in conditioner and a de-frizz serum. I put all this in as soon as I got it and it made my hair look greasy. I'm going to try it again without the leave in. Do you think the heat protector and de-frizz serum will help keep my hair from being as dry and frizzy? I wash every other day.
A few side notes. I tried a half tail for the first time and just a little bit of the front bangs don't reach. I can't wait until I can put it all back. Around the one year mark I expect to be able to do it. That would be sweet. Kinda like a samuria. ^.-
I also have a story for you guys. I was at work and my boss asked me when I was going to get a haircut. I told him somewhere around when I decide to stop thinking Star Wars is friggin' awesome (which is never). I did say that I would tie it back when it got long enough. He kind of smirked and just said "If my boss says something to me I'll say something to you". Haha. His boss never comes into our branch so I dont think it will be a problem. But if it is I suppose I'll have to get another job. Hair > Job. :) Sorry for the long post and happy growing.
I think you might be using too much crap in your hair.
Let it grow out naturally and don't worry about blow dryers, extra products etc.
At the moment i'm just using a cheap conditioner every 2 days and using my scalp oils for nourishment. My hair feels better than ever at the moment.
The whole "mullet" thing has pretty much died down. Rarely do I see people with them , and if you do see someone in the process of growing their hair out, it may be longer in the back...but it certainly not a mullet.
Trust me, it's quite easy to distinguish the difference between a longhair that has purposely cut his hair into a mullet, and someone who is making their way through the awkward phase.
Personally I didn't get any flak from anyone when the hair was longer in back, but if it's an issue for yourself, then by all means use your system.
I defintley wouldn't reccomend it anyone growing very long though.

Don't use a hairdryer. If you want to use those products, use a tiny amount to stop your hair getting greasy.
