Hello everyone,
If anyone knows an employer with a hair positive attitude, this would be a great idea to mention it here.
My employer of the month is the Montreal Public Library for having long-haired men work with the public. Not every employee has long hair, but they do have visible minorities work for them, and at least two employees I have encountered are men with long hair.
I am always happy when I borrow a book or video at this library to be helped by male long-haired staff.
If anybody shops at a grocery store where long-haired men are visible, knows businesses who respect their employees despite their looks it is good to mention them.
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
Although many think Walmart = Devil, they have lots of longhair guys working for them, as well as just about any other type of person you can think of.
Very cool...I'm a US public librarian in middle managment at my library and did not hear one word from my superiors while growing it out! I wear it in a tail now, so it is less "in their face" (and mine).
Anyway, imho it helps dispel the stereotype of librarians to some degree...
Several of the 'Woolworths' chain stores over here that I've seen have long-haired men working there.
A surprisingly large number of Pizza stores also have long-hairs.
It's very encouraging :)
I've seen some longhairs at FYE a few times before. Also, their sub company Saturday Night Matinee (at least, I think they're connected) have a few working for them. Very encouraging to walk in there and see that!
Actually, they are very cool for other reasons as well: excellent environment, excellent benefits, very good anti-discrimination policy.
