I was just thinking, you know how us longhairs have to deal with the bad comments and negative attitude sometimes daily?
But then you know how you feel when someone comments on it nicely?
Then I got to thinking, hey, how many people get comments on short hair? Whens the last time you heard a girl say "ooooo I really like your buzz cut"? It doesnt happen.
Sure, shorthairs dont have to deal with the negativity, but they dont get the positivity either....I love being a long hair.
Very well put, and I agree, but I've noticed that shaved heads DO get compliments from time to time. Not as often as long hair, but more than regular short hair. Also, I think lots of girls' comments are nonverbal - a run through the hair, patting it down, the like. That happens with short hair now and then too, but again, long hair's praise exceeds all short lengths.
Hello Everyone,
I do get praises at work, since my hair is clean, and especially woman like it. Guys who put me down are rare, but when it happens, it is out of jealousy. Having Asperger's syndrome, means not decoding the non-verbal, and when in doubt, I assume the reaction to be a positive one.
I seldom do get yells from passing cars in the street, though it was frequent in the eighties. This diminished in the nineties. I was called "Hippie", "Jesus" or even "John Lennon".
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
I dont get too many comments about my hair one way or the other most of the time. People just kinda keep to themselfs. Every once in a while i get a girl commenting on how nice it looks, or someone else who will chirp up and comment about being back in the 80's. Uassly i only ever come back with "well who wants to look like everybody else"

Actually I've heard many a compliment for short hair coming from those who prefer short hair on themselves or others. Parents, girlfriends, the boss, co-workers, etc. In high school girls would always run their hands over a guy's head with a fresh burr-head cut.
When I was much younger the pressure to comform to social standards was often expressed in praise for getting a short hair cut. Nowdays that is irrelevant for me but most of the people I know have short hair and if I'm around after they've just had it cut and someone else sees them I often get to hear a compliment for the cut.
What a lot of folks don't realize is what they don't like is the awkward stage on people and think that this is what "long" is and that short hair looks neater. Well sure, but as it KEEPS getting longer it KEEPS changing.
The point is that you don't grow your hair (or keep it short) for the praise coming from others. Some do this but always trying to impress others is considered to be a pointless way to live your life. But hey, each to their own.
