I just read your post below about fasting.
I've had quite a bit of experience with fasting and if done properly, it has many benefits. However there are also risks, as many other posters have already pointed out.
If this is your first time, I would NOT do a 40 day fast.
Try 6 or 10 days at first (six, if you have low body fat levels).
And I strongly recommend that leave out the MJ when fasting, otherwise your risk potentially permanent damage to your body.
Instead, drink as much freshly squeezed fruit juice and herbal teas as you can (preferably organic). There is some info on the link below. Yes, she is trying to flog her products but the advice is sound. Make sure you read the "detox syptoms", these can be unpleasant. I remember throwing up in a train once, lol

Also, you will need to drink as much filtered or spring water as you can, 2-3 litres a day.
All of this will clean out your body, and that alone will bring mental clarity.
As an additional tip, you could go out into nature, draw a circle of 3 metres diameter and spend an entire day observing everything that happens within that circle. You say you want to find yourself and this method (or a similar one) is used by many indigenous people throughout the world for just that. If you can, begin just before sunrise and stay until after dark.

thank u so much for ur response. ur advice is very much appreciated. I'm not quite sure wat to do yet, i will read some more about it on the web before deciding what way i will go about it. Maybe a week of fasting would be a lot more logical. Thanx again for ur advice, I'll let u all know when I decide and wat i decide to do.
