I'm quite sure this has been posted before but i just watched Return of the King the other day and only as a budding long-hair have come to appreciate the longhairs in this film.
Virtually every man (dwarf and elf) has long-hair...even those in power (and typically with the longest of manes).
I also found it amusing that some of the actors in this film bear striking resemblances to fellow boardmembers...so in saying i will construct our very own fanciful LOTR for the hyperboard in which a game will be played: name a boardmember who may look like a character, or may look like a character (with longer hair) or could even possibly play a character in themselves. Note that this is all done in jest and is, by no means, meant to be offensive - so if it is i apologise beforehand. But enough of that...
I will start
i have always believed, since first discovering this hyperboard, that Absalom's avatar photo makes him look like a psychadelic Saruman
i have always recognised the likeness of Justin to Lord Denethor (Steward of Gondor)
i also think that Oren would make a good Dwarf Mountain King due to that fiery mane
while Chris G has the straight hair of an elf
Are there anymore? certainly (i myself look like one of the page boys who tend to the rohirrim...not long enough in tooth to grow a mane :)
Ryan
Most clever. I love the concept.
Since you mentioned a few board members comparisons to LOTR they actually do strike a resemblance.
There is no offense taken, it is all light-hearted and good fun.
"that Absalom's avatar photo makes him look like a psychadelic Saruman"
HAHAHA, i totally like this one. A true resemblance, although Absalom is not as evil(we hope, lol).
I wonder what i am or who i resemble? I don't think i resemble anyone from LOTR.
Come to think of it, Weston bears a close resemblance to a blonde haired Aragorn. A noble and mighty warrior.
The irony in all this is that in LOTR most of the actors are wearing wigs/hair extensions. Legolas wore a wig and so many of the others too. Despite, its such a great epic trilogy and will stand the test of time, a true classic.
Have you seen the actor Vigo Morstien(Aragorn) in real life?
"Far from impressed", was what came to mind. It's pretty wierd to admire him as Aragorn the great long haired noble warrior and then see him in real life with short hair and clean shaven, sends me back to earth!
Aragorn didn't have real long hair in LOTR? It looks real to me..
Or you mean he shaved it after the movies?
I thought Kristen looked like Gandalf....

Hello Everyone,
I have seen the trilogy, and I do feel that it made guys want to return to longer hair after a few years of seeing shaved heads and crewcuts. Return of the King has made shoulder-length hair become more popular in Montreal, and hobbit shaggies I also have seen quite a few times.
A French humour site posted a survey on whether long hair on men is OK, and most people said it was OK, and some said it was offensive (Never trust surveys on the net, by the way).
I hope more "mop movies" come out, but never has one had influence on hairstyles as LOTR.
I coined "mop movie" for movies that show men with long hair, especially history movies, taking place in medieval, or musketeer times, but some modern movies can be mop movies, like Hair, Private Parts, UHF.
I humourously use the term "moppography" to describe material that explicitly shows men with long hair, like your school's history books for example, science books showing pictures of historic scientists like Newton, Blaise Pascal, etc.
Moppography censorship can be used as a form of protest in schools with hair codes. That is, stage a book burning of books with references to former long-haired men, for example.
As for Block Buster Videos's which fired 4 employees for refusing to cut their hair, if the employees had guts, they could refuse to rent "moppographic" videos, like LOTR, saying that company policy doesn't allow men to have long hair, and cannot allow its customers to watch videos with men with long hair. Imagine frustrated customers who cannot watch LOTR, Pirates of the Carribean, but can watch THX-1138 and how this would hurt the bottom line.
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
For those who read French, the poll can be found at

It is a humour site though :)
