am a black male and trying to grow my hair.i've left it uncut and untouched for 4 months now.please anyone got any advice on how to speed the growth and maintenance evvrythn u thnk can help am open to the advice.thankx y'all.
you can't really speed up the process...it's genetic i think.
as far as maintanence, don't brush your hair too often bc it warps it. comb your hair rather than brush it.
if your hair is dry don't wash your hair often. condition with a conditioner designed for dry hair after everytime you wash it.
BTW, if you have traditional african-american hair you might not want to brush it at all. tightly-coiled hair is hard to deal with. it's extra dry and it's usually weaker than other hair textures when you brush it. it'll come out more often than any other type of hair
Some sort of vitamins may help in increasing growth rate, if your diet has a lack of something that is required for hair growth...
Nah, no vitamins are really going to make it grow faster. Take a multivitamin every day, though, and eat well. Your hair type isn't gonna look like it's growing once it gets big enough, but it is. Just pull a hair strand straight to see how long it is. Hair usually grows half an inch a month.
For maintenance...well, if you want a simple method, shampoo your hair with something for "dry hair" once a week or even once every 2 weeks. Whatever works for you. After you shampoo, make sure you use a conditioner on your hair, particularly one that "moisturizes" or the like. You should condition your hair every other day, or every few days, anyway, to keep it from getting too dry, and hair gel, particularly non-alcoholic gel, can help a lot. Use some hair oil like jojaba oil or olive oil on your hair after you wash it.
Oh, and you won't need to trim your hair or anything. Just let it grow. Getting braids can help keep the hair looking neat. You should only try braids once your hair is 3 inches or longer, which is like 6 months of growth. I suggest about 8 months of growth before you really try anything like that, and get someone that won't rip out your hair.
