Hello Everyone
http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/on_film/2005/long_hair_archive.shtml
On the above link is an interview with three boys with longish hair, but very long for 1964 (It covers the ears). The content is funny as the interviewer seems confused by what he sees. It is almost like some kind of "freak show".
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
Heh, funny, as in the time I was in high school I had maybe only somewhat longer (and bangs of equal lenght with the rest), and was teased for it, but mostly because long hair had come out of fashion when I was in high school. I didn't care for that, nor did I consider it was long either.
Excellent!!
Thanks for Sharing that...gave me the giggles !!

Man... I've had waist-length hair for so long that ANYTHING above the SHOULDERS looks SHORT to me...
Likewise for me,
By my yardstick, their hairstyle is short, and shoulder-length or slightly below shoulders is mid-length, long is down to the back, and very long is like waist-length.

Ahhhh....So cute!
Thanks for sharing this Georges.

Thanks for pointing us to that video. I think their hair was pretty cool, and it's not much longer than mine is right now. Interesting that they were the only three boys at school with that sort of length. The trendsetters of their time.
The interviewing style of the 1960s always makes me laugh. We've come a long way since then.

"What's the idea of wearing it so long?"..."you are not trying to look like a girl are you?"
Ah, yes...very 'probing' questions!
Wow, that really does show how the world has changed. I can only hope a reporter these days would take a sympathetic position if boys were being forced by a principal to wear a ribbon when they had long hair. There is no sense whatsoever in the interview that the principal made an out of bounds and deliberately punative order. The boys themselves say they are the only boys left at their school with long hair because the others cut rather than wear a ribbon.
Georges, thank you for your find, it helps to remind that progress has come a long way.

My hair was the same length at the time. Why did I start
growing it long? Because the Beatles started growing their
hair and I decided to do it too.
By the 70s it was waist length. And no it didn't itch.
