I know it might be a bit too "80s" looking or "feminine"(because of the fringe) for some of you but you can't deny how nice those curls are.
He had one of the best manes from the decade IMO.
Funny enough, these days, he still has long hair(it was waist length in 1999 when i saw it last) but it is dead straight now!
Also, since the ends aren't very curly i have my reservations that this might be a perm job. Either way it looks cool.
His hair reminds me of someone that posted here about a month ago with lower back curls and a fringe, quite similar.
BTW, he is also one hell of a guitar player, but that is too oftopic to get into here :)

I think it's way out of date.... it probably wud have looked better back in the 80's, but i think it's a bit too feminine looking these days, he's got nice thick hair though.
Why do we think that just as it may have come from a few years ago and do people relate feminine being to have a fringe as well. I just keeps coming up and would be interested to understand why people relate that.

Hi John
This "Out-of-date" stuff sure beats me. If a fringe is now out of date, then why not the Music of J.S. Bach, or even better yet, someones Bible!
Justin~
I liked it in the 80s and I like it now.
Like any hairstyle, whether or not it looks good on a particular person depends alot on a persons facial and body structure and characterisitics. One hairstyle may look good on one person, but terrible on another. We just have to experiment and find out what looks best with what we have to work with.
I'm a lover of long hair, but even I have to admit once in a while that some guys look gawd awful with long hair.
On the flip side, some guys look absolutley magnificent with long hair (Ed G. for one).
Yes! That type of style has always been an all time favorite of mine. It was seen alot and people loved it. Nobody thought of it as being female-slanted in the least.
I do believe that the Rock Stars permed their hair deliberately in many cases. Even so, it was considered part of the "look." And the "look" was not considered femenine.
High!
Yuck! To call this guy an authentic longhair is like regarding aluminium die-cast as 'heavy metal'! Thank goodness at the beginning of the 90s Grunge came and blasted away all those tacky wannabes!
Kim Thayill of Soundgarden, that's what I would call a cool rock longhair!
See you in Khyberspace!

Just what is an "Authentic" Longhair? Are guys who have long hair but because of genetics a little bald on top considered "non-authentic?" If not worn in a Ponytail is this "More authentic than less?" If terminal strikes one before a certain length, is this then considered "Non authentic?" If there is a certain measurement to go by, does this mean to exceed that limit would put one in a "Non Authentic" catagory? If one desires just a bit different look and yet have overall long flowing hair, does this mean that they are "non authentic?"
Well I'm authentic as I've got longhair just like the guy in the picture and OK it may not be to everyones taste in the "secret world" but it's natural and authentic and I bet he does not look over his shoulders!!!

No... I like long hair in perfect shape, condition, all one lenght or a very light V or U shape... I don't like this type of cuts... Gotta be honest with you =) See ya!
It does look a bit feminin but as far as I know, 80's fasion is starting to become popular again in certain circles, right? I guess if you had enough selfironi it wouldn't that be that much problem to have hair like that, take Twisted Sister for example among others :D. And if you are a musician or a very big fan of that particular era and musical brand you can probably get away with it more easily.
Are you a musician perhaps?
Hej!
Kommer du ifran Sverige?
Japps, Luleå närmare bestämt
Translation: Yes, Luleå as a matter of fact
Luleå, Det är mycket jättekallt där, eller hur?
Ha det så bra!
Inte så kallt som man kan tro, inga isbjörnar.. faktiskt! :D Och våren kommer även hit
Tack det samma!
Basically yes. Its kind of unique so that is good for me.
Guys with long hair are a minority of the whole population and I
like to be a minority of the minority by having as unique as
possible long hair style. So if it would be possible to trans-
plant it I would like to try it for a while.
Actually if that was possible I would also like to try Jins hair and Doomlords and Redleaders and ......
Hey 80's,
Thanks for posting the picture and certainly shows a great mane of the time and I don't think there is anything wrong with the style and fine it was popular them. Why some people have to associate fringes with being feminine does it matter and we know there are a few purists of that opinion on the board.
I'm sure it was permed but that's how it as them and I've seem a couple of of people with that look on the UK. Alot better than the "Emu" look..rofl!!
John.B
What is the "emu" look?
I am very curious as well. Is that anything like emO? With an O? <_<
Yes I mean EMO!!!
That is simply awesome. =) I love the 80's style of things.
Imagine if it was straight too, it must be really long. I used to not like curly hair (probably because mine has a bit of curl, or more of a wave I guess) but I kinda started to like it after I've seen other (80's metal) longhairs with very curly hair. I sure like straight hair alot though.
