I was just wondering that seeing as the chief structural constituent of hair and nails is the same thing, does the strength of your nails give any sort of indication to the strength of your hair?
You might have a point there. My fingernails are very strong and I can't cut them off just by biting. And my hair is pretty similar in that way- strong, thick, curly. I have never had any problems growing my hair, and before I decided to keep it long I mostly saw it's thickness volume as a curse since I was forced to cut it every month. Now I like it alot!
I took an equisetum (or horsetail) supplement for a while and found that not only did my fingernails get stronger (which really helped at 1 point, when I got my finger caught in a closing door!), but my hair became less prone to breakage too.
I think I will start taking it again soon...
also some 'mega'- formulations like sillica, contain enough equisetum plus other stuff that is great for your fingernails and hair.
Surely, Hex !
Just have a look at my answer "Multivitamin tablets for Hair Growth"

Indeed, Hex, but generally our body finds itself what it needs if we have varied food, but sometimes we havn't sufficient vitamins or minerals and in any case, a supplement of vitamins/minerals has "doping" effects. CAUTION : too much vitamins may be dangerous especially A and D. Thus, take care ...
