I took these photos on my new digital video camera. It has an in-built flash so i took these in very little light at nighttime. That's why my eyes look evil , cause i'm tired at this point when i took them, very late.
I have started using Sunsilk shampoo specially for curly hair and some cheap conditioner called Hair Sensations - dry/damaged hair. I love experimenting with different brands and types of stuff. So far Garnier Fructis is my favourite, really strong stuff and it makes my hair look the best.
I hate my hair the most in the wind, it makes me suicidal.
If i'm outside and not wearing a hat i always remeber to keep an elastic on me so i can tie my hair up if it it gets windy.
That solves the problem.
I downloaded this really cool program(freeware) called Picture Girdle. It resizes and compresses my gigantic 1 megabyte photos down to a miniscule 20k or so. The quality loss is only so slight and it saves so much space and reduces bandwith. It is really amazing program.
Ok , i'll shutup now, here are the photos.
Comments most welcome as always. Cheers.
Looks good 80's!
Getting colder in Sydney yet? It is here!
MattT
Joys of living down under :-)
John.B
Yes, it's raining outside at the moment(coming down heavier as i speak!) and its cold and overcast. Winter is the time for sleeping in, eating porridge, wearing leatherjackers and wolly jumpers and beanies, tea drinking hahaha.
The pictures looks great and as always keep it growing and great inspiration to our other curly longhairs. I'd get some sleep mate if I were you.
Great tip on the program a great utility..woops better but my dweeb hat away!!!!
John.B
Thanks. Sorry i didn't reply to you on Myspace. I did read it so don't worry. I never use it much.
Evil eyes? Hardly. Ha ha ha........if you really want to see something evil you should see mine when Brendan wakes me up at 3AM to be let out. LOL
and of your hair progress? SUPER MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Justin~
Thanks Justin. You are a great friend and thanks for helping me with everything :)
Hi 80's
your hair looks better and better, and it has been looking great for quite some time already!
I don't think your eyes look "evil". Tired or not, your facial expression just conveys a strong-willed guy who knows what he wants to do with his life - and perhaps, "don't mess with me" ;-)
So, what's "cold" in Sydney? Where I live (NE of Germany), it's currently about -5°C at night and +5°C during the day. I'm looking forward to Easter (in 3 weeks)... So is this the time when the new Academic Year starts?
Best wishes, and have a great Saturday morning (1:15AM here = 11:15AM there, you're still on DST, aren't you? We start DST this Sunday)
Hans-Uwe
Thanks for the compliments.
20 degrees C is cold here, but that's relative. Put it this way, if i went to Germany in minus degrees i would literally die :)
You are very worldly. I have yet to be overseas.
i know what you mean...wind screws up my hair pretty bad too...gets frizzy. the pics look good, u look mysterious lol.
Hmm. You're definitely coming along, man. The little tube curls on your shoulder rock so hard. They're going to look stunning at mid-back.
The top of your hair is still a lot straighter than the top of mine, but it still seems to retain a sense of curly/wavy poofiness, or in other words, it doesn't totally hang down yet. I kind of like that. Proves that your hair is curly all round in the end.
Your hair looks excellent, although I can't really see its texture perfectly in the dark. But you've come a long way since I first saw your progress pics (your hair barely showed behind your neck!), and your hair suits you better with each update. You also look a bit maturer now. As your hair grows, so do you reach closer to manhood.
Keep up the good work, man. I'm still having problems getting a way to upload my own pics, but my own hair's longer as well. In fact, it seems to have grown a bit just this morning. :D
Peace, buddy!
Yes they look nice, thanks. I am considering mid-back now. Shoulder length is just too little length. Some days my hair is more cury than others , it morphs and changes shape hehe.
Yeah, i'm still waiting for gravity to do it's magic.
I know. 6 months ago and my hair barely even touched my ears. I have made good, solid progress in 6 months. Very happy. I feel more comfortable with myself now that i have longish hair. I like the person i see in the mirror. Yeah, a bit of facial hair helps me look a bit older. I noticed it too.
It's easy, i'll show you if you need help. Thanks.bye.
Well, it's not that I don't know HOW to do it, I just don't have the equipment yet. I haven't been able to get a ride to any store to buy a replacement data cable for my digital camera, so I might get one online soon. Should have prog pics by next month, hopefully.
Comparing with the updates of you i've seen, i gotta admin, you're hair is becoming much better and getting noticably longer. As for the frizz, i can tell that the top is already disappearing, and when your hair grows longer im sure you will have absolutely no problems with it. How is the back doing? is it better now?
Good Luck
. How is the back doing? is it better now?
hmmm, somewhat. I don't really worry about it that much anymore. It isn't that bad. I just condition it and keep it out of the sun.
Man, your hair is just getting insanely curly and long, its outstanding! Your hard work is paying off, you're well on your way to being a hair-god yourself! Be proud dude!
Thanks alot Chris :) Likewise
This is what my hair looks like on a good hair day. Some days it gets really frizzy and ugly so i just tuck it under a hat/beanie. I always discard bad photos of my hair :)
my curls are about half the size of yours and my hair makes me look like an east african when it gets wet =s i have to brush it straight and it still looks like tiny waves...but at least it's not tangly at that point lol
Wow, wonderful hair man, Love the curls. It will be super if it gets more length. GOod luck.
Cheerio!

Personally I detest the variety that comes from changing shampoos, I havent found the perfect one yet. Garnier works prety well, might have to try the Sunsilk line.
So do I, wind truly is the number one enemy moreso than humidity or climate in my case. Tails combat the wind well and help weigh down your hair, still cant put my bangs and most forward side strands in it though.
I know youve said that tailing is difficult for you because of the thickness, but do you have trouble getting all strands in and will they stay bundled?
Nice hair, man it must have taken you months for those curls to reach your shoulder. Looks like your hair is auburn, looks like some reddish color in that pic. I wish I could bring out the brown in my hair but the sun will most likely damage or dry the hair nearly as bad as coloring it.
Yes, it has been a long wait to grow my hair, a true test of a man's patience. Only in the last 6 months or so have i enjoyed the benefits of longish hair. My hair is dark brown but is also lighter in sections(the back) because of sun damage. Be careful and don't over expose your hair to the sun, wear a hat!
Your hair is coming along nicely. I know how it can be with
curly hair.
It looks like from the marks on your nose that you wear some type
of glasses. Or I could be wrong.
Thanks man. No hard feelings ay?
No, i don't wear glasses(although i think i am going blind hehe). It is the reflection fom the light in my bathroom.
Well, I wouldn't say your eyes actually look all that "evil"; but you do indeed look tired (lol!)!!
The hair looks FANTASTIC, though! And, when it comes right down to it.... isn't that what it's really all about here??
Keep it groin', 80s!!!
- Ken
Thanks Ken. I'm not all that evil :)
Glad to see that you are still alive and well and...posting!
Cheers man.
your curly locks great ...
but i'd prefer the pics with more light - there we can see the full power and 'greatness' of your curly locks ...
grow them long the 'll stunning if they're longer !!
greez and keep on growin',
ALH
Yes, i would prefer more light aswell but i was having a great hair day when i took them and i wanted to preserve the beauty in digital form and night time was the only time to take them cause i got busy during the day. Don't worry, as long as i'm still alive i'm not going to stop growing anytime soon. Now that my curls are just about shoulder length my next goal is mid back length.
great - exact the same attitude than mine :)
Now that my curls are just about shoulder length my next goal is mid back length.
may u need as less time as possible to reach ur next goal !
best wishes from your hair-admirer :)
ALH
Very nice!!!
The curls are looking great. Looks like you found products that work for you.
Keep up the great work,
- Oren
Thanks alot, Oren. Yeah, the Sunsilk shampoo is really great stuff. It gives life to my curls and makes them soft and bouncy and removes residue buildup and reduces frizz. I will definately be buying it again!
It's getting pretty long now, another 6 months and it should start weighing itself down and looking a lot longer. Keep at it.
It is getting longer. People who i haven't seen for around 6 months to a year(or longer) look kinda suprised when they see how long my hair is(considering i had it at 1" all my life).
I noticed that it is starting to get longer this month, like a growth spurt :)
6 months ago my hair look nothing like how it does now, it was so short. 6 months ahead and i will have beyond shoulder length curls and the will have weighed down a bit. Can't wait. Your hair is looking exceptional aswell. Keep it up.
Looking great 80s! That second picture really shows the hair starting to travel down your neck - a sure sign of significant length. Congrats!
Jason
Thanks Jason!
Alot of people told me that my hair was too thick and curly and that i couldn't grow it long. They said my hair would grow up like an afro and not down. Much did i learn from this site :)
Alot of people put me down about my hair saying i should straighten it cause it looks "dirty" and stuff like that.
Even my own sister insisted i get my hair layered and trimmed because it will take "like 20 years to grow your hair long".
It's all BS.
My progress is proof of this.
I have no plans to cut, just let it grow and flow for as long as i can. For me personally, growing hair is a lifelong goal.
Cheers man, BTW your hair is looking superb aswell.
looking good. the curls seem to be relaxing with every month that passes. good luck in continued progress.
Thanks man
hey 80's,
The hair's lookin great man, very thick and curly.... i can't wait 2 see how it looks when it gets even longer. just lettin u know, i use the Sunsilk shampoo aswell... its called Sunsilk "waves & curls" its really making my hair feel a whole lot better.. stops all that frizz aswell!!
I bought the sunsilk shampoo yesterday and i just tried it when i showered last. The results have been excellent. Less frizz, nicer full bodied curls and volume, removes residue buildup, even my ends looks better. At $2 a bottle i am definately going to stock up on about 4-5 bottles. Really cheap stuff and great results, far surpasess other products i have used. It's my new choice for shampoo.
Glad 2 hear that it works for u 2!! I also use the conditioner along with it.... they both do the job nicely :D
Looking great man, when your hair gets to shoulderlenght it should look really awesome.
I see you are able to grow some hair on your chin now, are you gonna grow it? I wish I could.. :(
I agree, almost there now.
No, i can't, it's at terminal length :(
Awesome ! So glad you left it hanging down looks great Man
see you Soon Axel

Looking very good! It's amazing to see a pic every now and then to show the progress. When you look in the mirror each day, it looks like there's not much change. But take a pic and compare it with a previous pic 1 or 2 months ago and you'll see the differnce!
"... I hate my hair the most in the wind, it makes me suicidal."
I can relate to that. I was growing my hair out about 6 years ago and had a very bad day [a particularly bad day when things weren't going well at all]. I was was walking to the train station on my way home from work, hair blowing everywhere in the wind. I thought, 'This is it.' So when I got home, I went and had it cut off. As usual, I regreted doing it. Now, whenever it's windy and have hair all over the place, I remember what I did before and thought that having the wind through my hair isn't so bad after all. After spending a few minutes a few [or more] minutes coming out the tangles, I still have my long hair!
--Rick
...'ringlets' at the ends of your hair. These will show up nicely as your hair gets longer.
Good Luck!
and 80's restores my faith in curly hair
very beautiful hair, and the style - thesedays - is quite unique. Thick curly hair, parted in the middle and pulled behind the ears is reminiscent of an anciet grecian warrior...a unique and complementary take on long-hair.
Ryan
Thanks for the compliments man.
Your a bit of a history buff i can see.
Hi 80's,
Your hair looks great, the length is finally starting to show. Your hair reminds me so much of mine when it was that length, I can really appreciate the patience you have to make it this far.
You are a good representative of curly hairs and your dedicated participation on this board is much appreciated.....Bodhi
Hi Bodhi,
I am always humbled to recieve compliments from a 'hair god' like yourself.
" Your hair reminds me so much of mine when it was that length, ."
Wow. Really?
That must be good. I would love to have curls as long and luxurious as your's one day. That is great to know!
Hey, 80s Metal, your hair is coming along well. As it gets longer, the frizz will almost disappear. I can already see corkscrew hanging ringlets starting to form. Once your hair gets really long, the majority of your hair will be hanging ringlets. Be patient, it will only get better. Long hair forever.
Absalom
Fantastic. Those curls are going to make an awesome mane. It must take a lot of patience as i can imagine the springyness of the curls make it look shorter than it really is.
