Hey there fellows!
I'm sorry for taking so long to tell you how my "trim" went... yes, I may call it a "trim", and you'll know why =)
You see, when I got to the hairdresser my sister was the first to sit on the chair for the trim. I was still undecieded if I should trim or not. My mom, of course, kept saying "João, your hair is really damage, looks at those ends! You HAVE to trim!! If you don't, that will get worst in no time and you'll have to cut all of it!!" - I just have to say that I didn't listen to her. I was simply seeing the way the hairdresser (really friendly but not so kind about long hair) was combing my sister's hair, using an improper comb, starting at the top, and grabing the hair as she pulled it down with her maximum strenght... my sister's hair was really detangled at the end, zero knots, but the comb was FULL of hair... =( Anyways, her trim went very well and her hair is pretty straight now, just as we both like it to be =) When she was finished I told my hairdresser (whose name is Lia) to check my hair and tell me what was really going on... result: she told me my hair is in very good condition and that I have very good hair. She told me I don't have split ends and in her opinion it would be useless to trim it, because she thinks I don't need to. You should have seen my mother's face when Lia told me that. Oh well... I know my mom doens't like long hair but she has to respect me, and she does. But she also has to understand that despite the fact that she knows a lot about long hair (yes, because she was a long haired when she was my age) I also know somethings about long hair, and how to mantain it. If I didn't, I surely woldn't be able to grow my hair for one year and a half without even geting split ends... Anyways... The hairdresser only took some dead ends from the very very bottom of the lower layer of my hair. She showed me what she had taken and it was not more than 30-50 hair-ends, half centimeter each. So, she didn0t took anything.
But, even tough my hair is healthy, she told me it is dehidrated, which I already knew (dry hair). She then handed a product and rubed some on my hair and the only thing I know is that it did wonders! So yesterday I called her to ask what it was. It was oil =) So you guys were right about the use of oil, it really does wonders. I have used it once but I had aplied it on wet hair and she aplied it on dry hair. So I'm going to try to apply the one I got here at home on my hair when dry to see the effect. Hope it still works =)
I was so glad to know that I don't need to trim... my sister is also very happy because her hair is so pretty shaped again. You know, trims are not that bad... but in this moment I can't loose a single milimeter of lenght because I still have a long way to go. But it makes me really glad to know that someday in the future I'll be one of those long hairs that makes everyone stare on the street...
Well, that's all for now. I want to thank all of you guys for worrying and advising me about the trim... you were right from the beggining. Oh, and sorry for the really long post, thank's for reading 'till the bottom =) Now I'm gonna brush my hair, I washed it this morning and it must be dry by now already... See ya =) =) =)
What was the name of the oil she put in your hair?
Mmm... I do not know =S Why? The effect was incredible, I didn't know my hair could feel so soft =)

Glad to hear that everything is working out for you, it's a long journey to growing long hair..and it's not always very easy to do so, but in the end you'll know what you've been through and you'll feel like you accomplished something, that will be a very cool feeling!

I'm glad it went well for both of you sounds like you have a good stylist. I'd of like to see you mums face when she said you don't need a trim, good for your stylist.
