So I've been growing out my hair for eleven months. In the back, the hair was a LOT longer than the hair in the front. So I asked my mom to trim off about three inches from the back.
It looks so much better now. The layer of longer hair underneath the layer of the shorter hair was a ridiculous look.
I like the all one length look myself, you can grow longer now, or you can leave it like it is and be ready to grow longer when you are ready depending on what you want to do, without any more of the awkward stage.
Either way looks good on you!

Looking really good. You're well on your way to having >really< long hair now.
Looks very nice - it will be good in the long run.
Keep up the good work,

Actually, had you not had a trim, all would have evened-out just fine in the end. But you got the trim and your hair looks really great! Now you can just sit back and let it grow! Good luck in reaching your desired goal. Looks like you have nice hair to work with.
I knew Justin would come in here eventually, because you don't think trims are a good idea. :) Anyway, I'm more concerned about it looking good than acheiving extreme length. As long as it's past shoulder length, I'm happy. It definitely looks a lot better from the front now, and supposedly, people have said, it looks better from the back too. The extra length in the back just looked horrible.
