well here we are at akward stage. i updated my hair growth gallery (see link below) with some picturs of the last few days.
sometimes i'm quite happy with letting the bangs simply hang down, as on the photo of 2006-03-19, sometimes i use spray to make a part (2006-03-27), but i HATE it when the part doesn't work and the divided bangs start "rolling in" (2006-03-26)... hope this gets better with more length.
my father has very curly hair, i hope my hair only turns out wavy... i don't think curly hair would suit me well.
today i tried to make a parting using spray, but it just wouldn't keep in position but instead fall constantly back onto my forehead. i almost went crazy... so i washed the spray out and let them dry hanging down. so it's the "beatles" look again, which not always makes me really happy, as it doesn't look very neat all the time.
the last week has been quite hard struggling with me hair every morning... i even thought about what if i'm one of those persons who are not made for having long hair? what if after all those months of suffering i discover it's been useless and still looks awkward?
these doubts torture me right now... any encouragement would be appreciated :-)
Alex's Hair Growth Gallery
I've heard the term thrown around here, but I'm still not sure what it means.
for a definition of "awkward stage" a.k.a. "bad hair phase" have a look here: http://gregl.net/longhair/longhair.htm#The%20Bad-Hair%20Phase
i've just reached the beginning of "stage 2"...
Alex,
What you're doing at the moment seems to be working - your hair looks fine.
Mine looked roughly like that a year ago and by October 2005, my hair was long enough to wear in a centre part, behind the ears (which helps to alleviate some of the annoyance you get with hair in the face.)
My advice is to stick it out - the time goes quicker than you realise, and before you know it, you will have enough hair to tie a small ponytail (the stage I'm at now.)
Best of luck.
Hi Alex:
Welcome to the board. Your hair is going to look fabulous when it's long. In fact, it looks good now. I've discovered the "awkward stage" is often only in the mind of the person growing their hair, as our hair always looks worse to us than it does to others.
I've yet to see anyone who looks better with short hair or "isn't meant to have long hair." Hang in there; the journey will be worth it.
Cheers,
Jeremy
Some guys are bothered more than others about the "growing-out" of their hair than others. The ones bothered the most are the ones who want their hair to look great all the way to having really long hair. Unfortunately, for the most part it is really impossible to look prestine when going through the awkward stage. If at all possible for you:
1. Try not to think about it and avoid looking in the mirror all that often. The hair will be changing in looks almost on a daily basis for quite a while. To worry about it will do no good and only make you feel more miserable.
2. Expect right now that your hair is not going to look prestine for quite a long time from now on.
3. Know that eventually when long enough all just seems to fall into place and your hair WILL look fabulous. (The part will fall into place on its own when it is ready.......and that isn't really that far off.) The "Natural part" falls in the middle. Its all a gravity thing.
4. Know that you are looking at about 1-1/2 years until you see really great long hair.
5. Know that if you stick it out, the rewards will be greater than anything you could ever imagine.
Just hang-in there and try not to worry. I have NEVER known of a single case where the person growing-out their hair in the end doesn't look anything short of sensational!
Best of luck to you getting through the Awkward Stage.
Would you mind explainign to me how I can make a gallery like that? I have a few pics from every month so far, but your page is so nice and neat! Please, if you would, tell me hoe to get such a site. My email is rome.sc@gmail.com
thanks!

Im at the same stage as you! its very very similar! I know how you feel and I feel miserable and just want long hair =( but theres no point stopping now and i think your hair looks great! Hope all goes well and you stick it in... I can tell, like the others, long hair will look awesome on you! So eliminate the 'i wont suit longhair' idea you have =D
Adam.
I like the look where it is parted on the side. I think that looks the best. The awkward stage is called awkward because it will be. In looks and neatness. You need to not be so concerened about that right now. Just try to work with what you have and focus on you're goal length and the ultimate reward.
Looking better and better Alex!
Keep up the good work, and nice site, too.
