I applied for a job at Subway the other day. To my surprise they requested a drug test. Now im not a avid drug user, but i smoked once 2 weeks before. Needless to say i failed the test and im really pissed off. Anyone know where or how i can get a job fast? I dont mind where or how much pay really just dont really wana work at mcdonalds.
To be honest, you might have luck with your local grocery store. I worked in the grocery business for 3 years (2.5 of them as a long hair), and I've never really had problems. I worked as a grocery stock boy for 2 years, and then in the produce section for while. Don't work in the deli or fish department, since they will make you wear a hair net, which isn't cool... Anyway, I would apply at a grocery store, and maybe even a supermarket. It's relatively easy work, and they are so big that they almost are always hiring. Avoid places like Walmart though...

Healthfood stores are a good bet, too.
Don't know about AZ, but the Whole Foods Market chain here in my area is great.
Look into Craigslist, too.

Doesn't marijuana clear the system after a month? Can you go back to Subway in a few weeks? Sorry I'm not much help. I haven't worked as a longhair yet.
I'd try the local gas stations. I worked for a Citgo when I was 19-20. It was a good job. Show that you can handle responsibility and you'll be fine. Let the managers know you'll be a guy they can count on. Also, stop smoking pot for a while, in case wherever you apply asks for a drug test.

Trevor: someone mentioned in another post that you're in AZ? I live in Phoenix. I know Circle K is desperate for help and they DONT do drug tests. Check em out. Being a long hair WONT be a problem there either. GOOD luck buddy!
The solution is really quite simple. Avoid the weed for several more weeks and THEN apply anywhere. Gladly take a blood test if required. You'll pass.
some advice: don't do drugs...it will hurt your hair growth and/or texture. hair is like a diary so you can actually do a DNA test using a single strand of hair and it can tell whether you smoke(d) as well as other things.
some more advice: don't work at a gas station unless you want to risk your life lol
try applying to Cosco, Lowes, or Wal Mart
Umm...errr...how about not doing it in the first place? Wouldn't that be the best way to go about life? And, you won't be pissed of anymore.
Drugs, Unemployed, no money...
Take control of your life dude.
Cut down on the weed, atleast for a few months until you get a descent job. Design an effective regime and be well presented, punctual, relable, honest, for the interview. Good luck.
Yea... I don't see why anyone would care if someone does pot. It's not addictive and as long as they dont come to work high it shouldn't be a problem. Isn't that the policy on alcohol which is addictive? I think what people to in their spare time is their own business. As for a job grocery stores are an alright low wage job (though you should probably get a career related job if you're out of school). I work a grocery store and have for about 7 months or so. Good luck man. Just keep applying and growing that hair! ^.^
Why would a potential employer care if you smoke pot? Well, regardless of whether or not it's addictive or other health-related issues, how about the fact that it's illegal? Being willing to ignore the laws in this area doesn't necessarily say good things about your views on responsibility or integrity.
BTW, I'm not looking for a big debate on whether or not pot should be illegal, just trying to point out the way the employer might look at it.

Where I come from they never ask for a drug test, but good luck.
I agree with the grocery store suggestions...they are always short on help imho.
And to those saying "get off the drugs": sounds like Trevor smoked once a couple of weeks ago...hardly an addict. Bad choice if you are job hunting, though, so lay off whilst doing so.
Really, two weeks is close to enough time to rid your system of THC if you really only smoked once a few weeks back. A month, however, is a very safe bet. Good luck.
