I take 2 high potency multivitamin tablets (multigenics) every day.
I also take 2 1000mg Vitamin C tablets a day (also from multigenics...I also take around 12 EPA-DHA fish oil capsules over the course of the whole day... combine that with a healthy diet and copious amounts of exercise and you feel great and are realllly healthy :)
I don't know, i am no expert, but it sure sounds like you are taking too many vitamin tablets. I bought a 50 pack of "Mega High Potency Men's Multivitamins" and the recommended consumption is 1 per day. I only ever take about one a week since i would rather eat healthily than by substituting a pill instead. Also, unless you are deficient in a particular vitamin/mineral there is going to be no effect on your body, basically it is just wasting your money. Many vitamins like Vitamin B, i hear that your body canno't store them for latter use and unless you are deficient in them they will just pass through the system in the form of urine.
Both my parents were qualified nutritionalists... i've followed their dietry advice all my life, read their books and i couldn't feel healthier..
on a tangent: read Prakruti: your Ayurvedic constitution by Dr. Robert E. Svoboda. It is the original eating for your type book/method and the concept pre-dates hinduism.
Fair enough then. Cool cool man.
Hi Axel,
A good nutrition program is a lot more than popping a vitamin tablet daily - It is a life style.

I have followed much of what is outlined there for many years and have had very good results.

Thanks Oren, good site.
As far as I know Vitamin A will just give you a loose bowel movement (unless you eat dogs livers I guess). If the doseage says one a day then that should be sufficeint, lets be honest if they could shove 2 or 3 down you every day and sell more they would!!
But as Oren says, a good healthy lifestyle and diet, lots of sleep, is the key.
Hey man,
I think 1 a day is all u need to take... taking more than 1 a day would be probably just a waste, as i think most of the multivitamin pills have the recommended daily amount of vitamins in them already. therefor u'd only need 2 take just 1 a day. if u know wat i mean?! it would probably be pointless taking more than 1.. that's wat i think, check it out somewhere tho.
.+. Peace Dude .+.
The vitamin tablets I usually take, they say to take two a day. But different brands of multivitamins have different potencies. So if it says to take one tablet daily, I'd go with that, whereas if it said take two, that would probably be the best idea.
The body can only absorb so much of the nutrients that a person eats. If you take more vitamins than your body can use, most of them are flushed out in urine along with excess minerals. You won't gain anything from vitamins that wind up there!
However, some vitamins are VERY unhealthy to get extreme amounts of, like vitamin A. There was once a guy on an Antarctic expedition, and when the food supply ran out, he ate the livers of the sled dogs. But a dog's liver has such an extreme amount of vitamin A in it that eating them ended up killing him. The odds of this ever happening with the vitamin A in multivitamins, even if you take a few too many, are very low, but still taking an excessive amount isn't a good idea.
So, basically, take the recommended dosage on the bottle. That way, you won't have to worry about the chance of overdose, nor will the extra vitamins get wasted.
Thanks for your comments
