i swear i shouldnt have this many greys..
I started going grey in my mid teens, though it wasn't as pronounced as your situation. But I certainly have a lot now.
If grey hair bothers you as much as it bothers me, you may wish to try something. Now I have to tell you I'm not certain that it works, as I've recently started taking it and, apparently, won't notice any change for a few months.
I'm talking about taking products that contain polygonum multiflorum, aka "fo-ti" or "he shou wu". It's the root of a particular plant the Chinese claim can restore hair colour and improve its quality.
I'm not sure where you live but I assume it's not America (you spell it grey like me, not gray). I'm not sure what you'd find in your area but there are bound to be some tablets you can buy. I'm in Australia and I get 101 Hair Formula tablets. In America, Shen Min is a popular brand which Zac takes and I believe he likes the results, though he is not using it for grey hair, just improved hair and that sort of thing.
Like I say, I really don't know if this will work, but I'm certainly giving it a try coz I'm sick of dyeing my hair.
It's up to you of course.
BTW, your hair still looks pretty good in any case.
Luke :)
Hi Luke,
I was just wondering what annoys you about having grey hair. As you can see I'm a real old salt and pepper colour here. I get some nice comments from people and they say gret colour and keep it as it is.
If the Chinese root helps then I would certainly try it.

I can't speak for Luke but I also don't really like having grey hair. I have gotten nothing but positive comments from other people about the grey I have in front on my bangs. BUT if there were a way I could make it change back I would do it in a minute. Being grey just means I'm older looking than I want to be (or maybe its just older looking than I feel inside). I still feel like a kid, don't like the discrepancy at all. But I don't like to hide it under color, so I draw the line there.
But everybody's positive comments have helped me not to hide it anymore :)
It's just not my bag. It might be in my own mind, but I think I'm too young to have so much grey, and trust me, right now I have a half inch of regrowth tucked away underneath this mop and it's not salt and pepper, it's just salt. I just don't like it. I'm 34, not 54 or 64.
Luke
Well I'm not 54 or 64 either!!!

Hi there,
I had alot of greys at your again and I've just got used it it now and there is no way I would dye mail mail. The contrast of the colours looks great and I'm sure from a distance you would not be able to tell.
Keep it growing and keep away from the die.

If it is any consolation, you can take comfort in what I call the "Richard Gere syndrome": "if it greys, it stays". For whatever reason, if your hair goes grey before it goes...period, then you will not lose it. I personally think that grey or white hair contrasted with a young complexion (young-looking skin) is a fantastic image!!! Don't despair...enjoy!!!

Wow, is that true?! Very good to know. I've had some grey since high school but they are starting to slowly take over (or maybe they are just more noticeable as my hair reaches shoulder length for the first time). I'm only 32.
On a side note, I have been EXTREMELY stressed over a recent divorce...is there any truth to the notion that stress greys one's hair?
I sure hope youre right. I also heard that baldness or not baldness is inherited from the maternal side, I hope so, my maternal grandfather had a full head of grey hair at 99 when he died!
My grandfather had his hair all grey at your age... don't worry, I think it looks nice =)
I met one malaysian with some grey hair and long too, he looks so beautiful...
If its not common in your family to have early grey, I have heard that a deficiency of vitamin B12 can do that, maybe you can check on that. I had a test done and it showed I didn't have any deficiency but at least I stopped thinking about that approach then and just learned to live with it.
Grey is better than baldness though, immensely so. I know thats not a great comfort, but you do look fine.
Hi Sambo,
Don't worry about the grey - it's usually genetic and perfectly natural.
From the close-up shot, it looks like you have very nice healthy and thick hair. Looks great!

My sentiments exactly. It can be whatever color it wants, as long as it's still attached to my head.

I can relate. Grey hair seems to come early on my mother's side of the family. In my case I started to get grey hairs in my 20s, but didn't look grey until I was well into my 40s, so if it's any consolation it can sometimes take a long time to change.
Synthetic dyes are generally not good for long hair unless it is professionally dyed by someone reputable, using permanent dye and having your roots done regularly by them. IOW, repeated dyeing of the same hair will ruin it, and long hair stays on your head for a long time.
I personally use henna to modify my hair colour, which is non-damaging. OTOH, mixing henna and synthetics can have disastrous results, although only if there are metal salts in the henna mixture. For this reason stylists always discourage henna use, because they don't use it. Ironically, using synthetic dye only always causes a certain amount of damage, but using henna only does not. Using both at different times is risking major hair damage, so it's best never to start using synthetic dyes.
Take a look at www.hennaforhair.com before you do anything rash, like using synthetic dyes for example. You may have to look places like health food stores to find henna, whereas you can pick up synthetic dyes anywhere, but it's worth the trouble.
