Hey Everyone,
So there is 233 users now. Seems that number is slowly climbing. It would be great to see this number hit a "tipping point" and then all of a sudden we have a thousand users and more. Just spreading long hair throughout the world.
Cheers
...and one million lurkers ;)
Well I'm not lurking here and nothing to hide lol!!!
Ask Grandma!!!

Guys who lurk but don't post must be afraid someone who knows them will get on the Internet and find out they have long hair. [wink] In my case, I've always felt being an "in the closet" longhair would be way too tough to pull off. [grin]

You know, it's actually always puzzled me why there aren't more users here. Almost everyone has the internet now, at least in affluent countries. Even given the small percentage of men with long hair, there are still hundreds of thousands of us in the world. Wouldn't the most normal thing be to check out long hair sites if you're a guy with long hair?
Well, for fear of being called "gay," no.
It's quite idiotic, but that's how it works. So much as look at a picture of/topic about another guy on the net, much less a whole website of potential pictures/topics, much less those involving the stereotypically gay/feminine longhaired guys, and you'll be called a teenager's worst fear: a homosexual.
Hope this doesn't offend anyone out there, but that's how I've seen it work. Even obviously straight guys would get teased for merely searching for a site about long hair, unless they could cover it up by saying they just wanted info about hair care or a problem or the like. That might explain the one-post wonders that come here sometimes. Some may want to come back, but they get too scared and/or pressured by their little societies not to.
Hi there I understand you comments but just because you have longhair should mean that a person had feminine habits. After all most of the community is open minded here and as I've said it's not important as to your preference in the bedroom.
John.B
Yeah, I understand that, but most of the short-haired world doesn't seem to.
Man, you hit the nail on the head with that post. You are certainly right that most longhair guys would not want to look at a site that contained nothing but pictures of guys with longhair. For fear of being called gay or possibly because they really don't need or care about longhair beyond their own.
I must admit that even now I'm not always sure why I am here so often when I don't usually have a question. Guess I love to see longhair, but what does that mean? Is it some kind of artistic asthetic, I just know its always really fascinating to see people change with time.
Well that's very true Bill and if people can still hide if they want to. My view is if you got longhair and we're a small group let people enjoy it and not follow a norm.
As for a closet those places are so small and dark alot of the time unless you find your way to Narnia. Mind you it could be worse and be at Grandma's house and hope the house does nor blow down!!!

That's so true, Bill. I always think about that. It's like they are almost ashamed of having long hair because of social tabboos and idiotic stereotypes such as being homosexual, queer etc. If a longhaired guy saw me in the street and said "hey, i saw you on the MLHH" i would chuckle and say "well i haven;t seen you on there!".
I've been lurking the boards for almost 4-6 years now, and have been a longhair since long before. I just kept quiet because I thought the whole board was all about nothing but technical questions regarding hair, because I recall awhile ago there was a rule to keep the other posts down to a minimum for bandwith purposes or somesuch.
I'll admit, I was a tad bit shy about posting, more or less because I have a few quasi-musical "enemies" on-line that I'd like to keep at bay (nothing regarding hair oddly enough).
The Sexual Orientation thing never bothered me cause' I know, and the woman who's with me knows, I'm straight, and that's all tha tmatters. I have no need to worry about anyone elses.
I don't think there's such a thing as a closet long-hair, after awhile it becomes a MAJOR PITA to keep the locks under a hat. I know, I had to do it in Marching Band years ago.
Roughly 6 billion people in the world, 3 billion guys X 2% (alledged number with long hair) = 60,000,000
233/60,000,000 = 0.000003883 or 0.0003883%
That's not a high percentage. Not factoring in the turnover rate (those who cut, or grow/cut, grow/cut)
It's my conjecture that a lot of those guys out there with the long hair just have it and that's that. Perhaps they face not challenges in growing and having it long. There are even those among us who have no problems with it. Maybe in lots of countries, it's not a problem? Then others do have problems...
That's where this place comes in handy.
Wolf, aren't you from Estonia (Estland)?
bragi
Yes.
I'm a bit shy about posting, but I read everything here and this board is very helpful and inspiring.
It is interesting that this whole thread came up, a thread that to me seems to be about the real purpose or purposes of this board itself. Indeed only a few people of the(hopefully) multitudes who are growing their hair post at all. I found out about this board just wondering about the world of long hair when I knew nothing at all about it, probably a typical user.
It first gave me lots of information by pointing me to the FAQs and by reading the posts while lurking here for awhile. But then I just kind of got caught up in other people's stories about what they were going though growing out, hair wise and other people wise. Seeing the pictures they were very proud of, etc. Somehow before I know it I was coming by just for seeing how everybody was doing and not with a question at all.
For me this place is really a community of shared interest more than a question and answer forum. Find out what other people are like outside of their hair. So maybe most people who grow out don't really need that aspect of the board. A few answers they get for themselves are sufficient. I guess I care about longhair aside from my own. I find it really cool to see how people change and look better and better as the months pass. This place is also a great way to meet people with similar interests, you just don't know which people will share which interests since these other things are not the main focus of the board.
