There have been members on this board who have said blow drying ones hair is quite damaging. well here is a link stating otherwise. I'd like a nice discussion to find out if it really is damaging; if it isnt, it would save all of us ALOT of time :D
forot to post the link :(

Concerning short or longISH hair, I think the information on the linked page is right. However, if you have serious length, it's probably different.
See what it does to your hair. If your hair is getting dry, then the high-heat setting probably adds to the problem, and you're better off avoiding it.
Happy growth!

"Your body vents tremendous amounts heat through your scalp 24 hours a day. Short of igniting your hair with blow torch, heat is not bad for your hair."
Hmm. If our body is giving off hairdryer equivalent heat all the time it sounds like we wouldn't need the dryer then anyway. We do give off heat but not at that high temperature. Which leads nicely to the next quote-
"Frequently people report seeing smoke come off of their hair while blow drying. Rightly so, but its not smoke, its the hair products evaporating. What you see is condensation, not smoke."
Well, when the temperature can get hot enough to boil the water in your hair it is also exploding the hair itself. That is never healthy. Dryers can be used at low settings to speed up drying but too high will damage hair, it is not a shortcut. The only time I have ever seen smoke when drying is when a hair has gotten sucked into the machine and yes, it is smoke and the burnt hair scent to go with it.
