I have been growing out my hair for about a year now, but I've been having some doubts. The thing is I have an oblong shaped face. It is very long and narrow. I've read many hair guides saying how it is a huge mistake to grow long hair with a head shaped like this because it only makes the face look longer and narrower and less attractive. But I've never heard what men that actually have long hair have to say about it.
Right now my hair is the longest its ever been, I've noticed my bangs are starting to touch my mouth and it stays behind my ears fairly easily unless I move my head too fast or anything. I really want to get it longer but I don't know if I should or not. Does anyone else have a face shaped like mine? (sorry I don't have a picture) Or does anyone have anything to say about this issue?
I believe more people look better with long hair as opposed to short. I personally don't think anyone looks good shaved, but I do think some people look better with shorter hair (long hair doesn't work for everyone), but without a pic it is hard to give an opinion.

Dean, your face is shaped just like mine, epecially the longer forehead, and I think you look great with long hair!
80s_Metal I see what your saying, style could make a difference. The only style I've used is a slightly off centre part, perhaps I should look into some other styles until it's long enough for a ponytail.

I don't think long hair does or doesn't look good on some facial shapes. I think long hair in general looks better on EVERYONE. What you must do is find a long haired style that suits your face shape. Try a side part, centre part, maybe a fringe will make your forehead look smaller, a ponytail might be the way to go. So basically, hair length is not a compromise, style is however. Well that is my belief anyways.
Long hair suits because i have a narrow, thin face and it makes me look better and softens my face shape.

Manipulative people will say, if they do not like long hair, that long hair looks great on any face shape except yours. Parents, and some significant others who have second thoughts may use that excuse. I personally have seen very few cases where long hair does not go well with someone, and that happens when that person does not take care of his or her hair. Never have I seen a woman be told that her long hair doesn't suit her face.
