I just came down with a case, its very unpleasent, anyone have tips for the pain? Im going to the docter ow to get antibiotics.
Hi Trevor,
I'm sorry you're suffering. It's certainly important to get antibiotics, at least if there is some pus on your tonsils. Make sure you finish the complete course, even if you are better. -
For the pain, you may try to gargle with some disinfectant mouthwash. However, you may also need some paracetamol (called acetaminophen in the US), eg 500-1000 mg up to three times daily. If that's not strong enough, try ibuprofen 400 mg three times daily, but DON'T combine the two.
Get well soon

I have a few thing i use.
Corasiden- this is what i use when im really in pain. Youare not supossed to use it unles you have a fever or somthing but it does the trick with anything.
Ephedrine- Its a meant to treat people with bronchitis to open up and help with pain in the throat. It works a very strong pain killer all over the body i think.
Cepacol Spray- Just spray it down your thoat and it coats and nums everythign it touches.
With the exception of ephedrine(which you can find at corner stores) you can get at any food stores. I hope any of these help and i hope you feel better:(
Hey, I had this in the summer so I know how much it hurts! Things I found most helpful (other than the antibiotics) were gargling (and then swallowing) soluble paracetamol and a throat spray my mum bought. Feel better.
I used to get that all the time when I was younger. Painkillers like aspirin or Advil were what helped sooth the awful throat soreness for me. Remember to keep your mouth and throat clean by brushing frequently and gargling, preferably with an alcohol-free mouthwash (alcohol-based ones can dry out your throat and make the soreness worse).
