Well, I got a new pair of contact lenses the other day, put them in this morning.
For about a year and a half, out of just sheer laziness, I had only been wearing my glasses. While I can see rather well with them, with the new contacts everything is hyper-clear and well defined and super 3-D.
Thats great of course, but the shock was this: Ive got a lot more white/grey hair than I thought! Its everywhere! Its everywhere! Im not really panicking, but was just surprised.
Im seriously thinking about looking into some henna to see how that works. While I dont really mind the grey, I just wonder how the hair might look without grey. The only reservation I have is that my hair toward the ends sort of fades from brown to a blondish/reddish color that I really like and would hate to loose that by coloring it.
Now, does anyone have any good/bad experience with henna hair coloring that they would not mind sharing? How to use it, where to obtain it? How long does it last? What result is obtained?
Im definitely not going to resort to any other type of coloring as this is a formula for inevitable damage and disaster, counterproductive to healthy hair.
Any input is of course appreciated!
Thanks, bragi
Hi Bragi,
I'd not try henna, that may be too strong and too red. Grey hair is due to small enclosures of air in the hair structure. Some lotions diffuse into those air bubbles and fill them, thus restoring the "natural" color, sometimes a bit darker than before. One of these lotions is "Grecian", but you'd need to apply it regularly over a few months.
Otherwise, consider bleaching your hair to bright white, thus pre-empting a bright future ;-) ;-) ;-)
Maybe, the best option is not to worry at all, long grey hair grey does look cool on lots of men.
Best wishes,
Hans-Uwe
Hey, Bragi, glad you're enjoying the new contacts. I know I have been enjoying mine, which I have had for a few months. Its great not wearing glasses anymore. Also glad you're enjoying your grey hair :) I have been enjoying mine which I have had for quite a lot longer than a few months (not!) :)
Actually I have gotten used to it, still I have often wished there was somtheing to make the grey disappear but I have been reluctant to try coloring anything for fear it would look stupid and obvious, like I was trying to hide my grey or something :)
Not sure why why I decided that leaving it alone was the best thing for me but thats what I am doing for now. Maybe I'll change my mind later who knows.
If you do the henna thing I hope it works out well and subtlely!
I saw a guy with long and grey hair and I liked him... but contacts are great, but sometimes you do forget you're nearsighted so remember to remove them before sleep.... I hated glasses cause its dusty, and you cant see all that well plus it feels like something's on your face which I dont like.

I've been wearing glasses for the last 4 years and currently in the process of getting contacts and you're right. Everything's much more clearer. Even the gray hair! The thought of coloring did cross my mind but I think I'll just let it be. My hair goes from dark brown all the way through blonde highlights, all natural. With gray mixed in all over! I've gotten used to the colors and don't think I'd care to color it.
Good luck with the contacts!

I think you guys are right. I'm just going to let it be for right now and learn to love the grey and white mixed in with the rest of the hair.
Thanks for the input!
